I've only quoted the Guardian figures DWLC, the OP was claiming Labour had lowered it from 50k in one year when it wasn't the case.

I know small businesses and pub owners who would argue differently but whatever. Also didn't the steel plant in Sheffield go into administration yesterday? The starmer effect.

It’s ok, I’m used to you ignoring facts over hyperbole.

Perhaps their accountants aren’t very good and aren’t claiming the reliefs for them.

But facts they are, however inconvenient for you and them.

I am fed up of everything being some one else's fault, whilst being told what to do by coke heads in government. In the last 15 years we have loads of drug addicts telling us all where we are going wrong in life and blaming all and sundry for the mistakes the politicians have made. These people have never done anything wrong and we the people are the problem because we are ill or we need some where to live etc. It is all our fault it is never the ones at the top, they are perfect that their farts do not stink. They are so perfect it makes me sick to my stomach. I wish politics and politicians would bog off to Mars and leave the rest of us alone.

Yep that's why pubs are closing at a record rate aswell and every major supermarket has made cuts.

    Supermarkets are not micro businesses.

Pubs have been declining for a very long time, particularly ones that don’t have a compelling offering.

The fact remains that the smallest businesses are protected from the NIers increase through increased reliefs.

You can obfuscate as much as you like, but this will remain fact and continue to be true.

    Why post lies?

In the first 6 months of 2025 just 209 pubs closed in the UK with projections of 378 by the end of the year forecast by the British Beer and Pub Association. In 2023, under Tory rule, there were 769 pubs shut their doors.

Got to take the knock on effects covid had on the industry at that time.

And yet, knock on effects or not. Is it not a fact that pubs are NOT closing at a record rate?

But okay, let's go with it. Let's give the Tories a free pass for anything that happened 2020 onwards. That's fair right? 18 pubs a week closed in the second half of 2017 under Tory rule, it's down to just 8 a week in the first 6 months of 2025 under labour rule.

So can you explain again how, even if we give the Tories a free pass for anything post COVID, 8 a week is higher than 18 a week?

But it's not long after the time help grants to that sector stopped probably not a coincidence. Or is a global pandemic the government's fault.

    You’re welcome.

Are you aware you’re editing your own ‘facts’ based on your biases?

If it suits, macro factors are leaned upon. If it doesn’t suit, macro factors are ignored or batted away.

I’m sorry, but you just can’t be taken seriously if you can’t discuss matters and take in all aspects as to what is contributing to an issue.

    But frankly, this isn’t new.

Highest electricity prices in the world? Can't be arsed to check the entire world obviously but on average German electricity costs just under 10p more per kWh than it does in the UK.
