Exactly my thoughts Stephen. Who's to say he won't do the same if Real chase him next summer?

It's so obscene that footballers themselves have lost sight of just how much they earn. Isak reputedly on £200k a week. £200k per MONTH is astronomical, and £200k a year is a good salary for CEO / PM / captain of industry.

I'm toying with retirement in December for my 60th. I'm probably not quite there when I line all the ducks up, but I could do it at a push. 3rd July 1983 I started full time work. 42 years and counting. Barely a day off and certainly never downed tools and refused to show up.
Yet in just a fortnight, Isak will have earned more (gross) than my pension pot.

Think he was promised a bigger financial reward by the Director of Football who isn’t there anymore but he signed a 6 year deal so it’s his own fault

I'm a sort of Newcastle fan (through my wife) so have a real interest in this. All the club are doing is seeking what they think he's worth. They're not refusing him the move, it's just that Liverpool haven't offered enough yet. He's acted like a kn0b, and not impressed with how Liverpool have gone about it either.

Newcastle have a choice here to send a message, just don't sell him. they have enough money to pay him, let him sit at home for 3 years.

You did right, Ive had similar discussions in the past but always got those taken out or in the case its a "standard contract wording from our legal department" an addendum added saying that these dont apply unless some particular condition is met.
Regarding the Isaac situation its hard to really know whats going on as social media isnt always in full possession of the facts but if Isaac thought there was a "gentlemans agreement", his agent should have insisted it was in writing.
Best guess is there is an agreed release clause but if its not met Newcastle are under no obligation to sell and thats what is happening. Liverpool are offering less than Newcastle think he is worth which if the rumours are correct and they are offering £100M Im with Newcastle on this one

Spot on. Get it in writing. It's exactly the same as what happened to Harry Kane with Spurs. He had a gentleman's agreement with Levy. However, at least Kane had some decorum. In the end Spurs had to sell at a knock down £100 million for him with 6 months left on his contract :D.

I’ve seen a few comparisons to Wissa but the big difference there is the player has the power as he only has a year left on his deal.

It’s a shame for Brentford but they either sell now or he goes for nothing & Wissa, Newcastle & any other interested clubs know this.

He was actually really poor the start of last season which would align with him throwing the toys out of the pram after being denied a transfer but promised he could move the summer after.

Isak started the season off scoring 1 goal in 6 and missing two more games with an injury before getting stuck in and scoring 14 goals in 13 games.

Dont get me wrong Alex is a fantastic striker but the previous Liverpool manager Klopp used to take into account a players character and attitude when signing players (or selling them) so if Slot applied the same logic, he should stay far away from Isak.

Ekitike looks a great striker anyway, stick with him instead.

Isak also really struggled with the demands of European football & playing twice a week the season before. He had a few niggles & had to rotate with Wilson.

The football shirts per season, the must have latest boots - all going into landfill if not correctly recycled.

What have Liverpool done wrong? They made a not insignificant offer; it was turned down and as yet they haven't gone back in. I haven't seen them crying to the press or anything.

Obviously if they are unsettling the player by asking him to act like a nob / force a move, that's a different kettle of fish (think TAA / Madrid) but I have seen no evidence of such?

I did - nearly. Last job was pushing me to be something I had no interest in, so handed my notice in and walked out. I spent the last month doing nothing and my boss didn't even ring me - nor did I get an exit interview. Its cost me a fortune having six months off on zero pay, but if I'd carried on there my mental health would be in the gutter now.

And I start a new job next month - albeit lower paid.

He's made himself into the new Peter Odemwingie. Like it or not he's going to get booed by sections of supporters around the country now.

I agree. I csn see both sides but at the end of the day he's got a contract with Newcastle, he's got fans who want to see him play not sulk.
