Didn’t they bring in the 8second rule this season where the goalie had to get rid in that time or was it just talked about
Loads of promise the lad played four games for us with four different defences. All good defensive units are built on playing together hopefully in the near future we can get a settled back four and that understanding can start to build.
He has had a couple of iffy moments in the first 3 games but looked very solid yesterday. The save from the corner was excellent and his general decision making was more clinical.
His kicking isn't so good. How many times did he kick it straight to their goalie so it came straight back at us when we were winning? Pulled some great saves off though
The trouble is when you're a man down it's riskier playing it short because of their extra body to press...if he decides to not risk it and kick long there is less likely to be a player up front.
Yes he had an excellent game yesterday. One or two top class saves and commanded his area well. He also caught the ball in situations where many 'keepers these days just punch it.
I think the problem is for a goalie they have to trust the defence. In the first game i felt we dealt with everything in the air very well. Vs Fleetwood we dealt with nothing in the air at all. In fact this is where i believe we need a Roberts style defender otherwise we wont see the best of Cooper.
I’m very unconvinced. He lacks authority and rarely commands his area or comes out decisively for crosses. Much better against Bolton though.
He's got a lot to work on. He was like a statue when they hit the post, like he was for the Burton penalty. Hopefully he gets a clean sheet tomorrow night and he can push on from it. It puts pressure on the attacking players if they feel like they have to score at least twice per game if we are to win.
I wish he’d “take a bit off” his kicks. They all seem to go over the heads of our players. Apart from that though he was excellent again tonight. That save in the first half was brilliant. Deserves his clean sheet and hopefully he can have a few more as the season goes on.
