Cooper Bland Shepherd Earl Ogbeta Phillips Connell Russell Vickers McGoldrick DKD Subs Flavell Farrell Watson MDG Kelly Cleary Farrugia
I'd go Cooper Bland Shepherd Earl Ogbeta Phillips Connell Kelly Vickers DKD Cleary Give Didzy a rest in the midweek games. Perhaps Watson at RB so as not to burn out young Bland with too many games.
Not bothered who plays as long as we have more shots on target. For all the plaudits from the two games this week, we haven't been good enough in the final third.
He didn’t have his best game today got to admit, but not sure what position you think he should have played following McGoldrick being subbed
Wasn't talking about after the substitution, I'm saying he's wasted playing out on the left. That's where he was played at Plymouth and did nowt. Then McGoldrick was subbed and he was moved into the centre, and that's when he scored his goal. He was out on the left again today and again did nowt. He's an attacking midfielder/number 10, probably the best in that position in the division, lets play him there and play with wingers like Conor said we were going to do.
I do like the look of that team, but McGoldrick isn't gonna last the season if we expect him to play midweek and weekend. Only other option is DKD to CF, or take a chance on Cleary being able to play there.
That’s the team I’d like to see. Extra protection in midfield, give Dunn a free role behind the front players. He’s scored two, but he’s not been involved enough. He’s much better with the ball at his feet running at opponents rather than back to goal or trying to get on the end of a cross.
100% I was fixated on DKD in the first half and the role hes given doesnt suit him or the left side of our attack in general. He's basically trying to do the job of a left winger and attacking mid in one. When he does drift in the centre when we have the ball, because theres only the left back whos deep the opposition knows its going to the right side every time. Then when we lose the ball hes got to sprint back to the left to help Ogbeta out. The only thing he does do really well is when we build an attack on the right and he always seems time his run perfectly into an open space in the box. Unless Conor feels we can dismantle teams just by attacking the right side every week with Phillips and Vickers, teams aren't gunna take long to wisen up and just try and shut out our right side. If we played a left winger, DKD can focus more energy on running in behind as he doesnt have to run back so much, and the opposition wouldnt have to just worry about ogbeta from deep (who did tbf play some great crosses with someone like Cleary playing (espcially if hes double marked like the other day). That's probably why on a lot of occasions the bolton defence played a high line, even though McGoldrick did score by beating the offside trap lol. Based off the touches players had today vickers and DKD had the fewest touches of the players who played a load of minutes, so im guessing teams might be wising up to it already. Although its ***** and harsh to drop phillips im sure it'll benefit the team. .
