Made by the same guy who did the Fargo series.Well worth a watch.

Only two episodes out right now but its by far the best instalment of the franchise since Aliens. It also does justice and pays homage to the original with its opening.

Its not short of gore and shock factor but what else would you expect from Alien?

Watched the first part last night and wasn't too impressed. The missus thought it was more superheroes than Alien and it wasn't as gripping

    It’s definitely on my agenda.
Am into last series of Resident Alien on Sky Max… it’s wacky but enjoyable.
The main guy is a brilliant actor

I think its been fine so far - I agree with above comment, feels more like more superhero stuff at the minute. Also feels like it might go the way of teenage drama. Hopefully not as some of the aliens look downright horrifying!

I'd be very surprised if it goes in either of those directions. Hawley's take on Superheroes was Legion and it was utterly dark and f-ed up. And it would be a first for the likes of Empire to give 5* to a teen drama.

I think the choice of putting kids in adult bodies and dulling their emotional response, then throwing them into that hellscape, was deliberately designed to be unsettling. Like with the new aliens species in relation to the xenomorph.. a new take on the unsettling behaviour of synthetic beings in the originals.

I also like the minute details in every scene. Its a middle finger to people who want to "watch" while scrolling their phones. They just wont get much out of it. How good TV always used to be made before people started pandering to the no attention span generations.

I’ll wait til the whole series is available but looking forward to it. Only problem is I already know it won’t have an ending, and will be written for a second, third, fourth, fifth series

I suspect it will.. but both Fargo and Legion were written with specific chapters planned from the very start.. so it should remain structured and coherent.

Watched both other night, found the first one quite hard going until towards end, second one was much better

Need to watch the other seasons before this one? Or is it a standalone and can start here?

I had been meaning to give it a wide berth and finding out it is superhero story I'll not be changing my mind.

I don't really have any telly shows on the go at the moment. I keep watching the first episode of things and then losing interest.

No other seasons. Its a new series. It sort of assumes you have a basic idea about the alien from the original movie but beyond that just does its own thing.
