Problem is an injury or suspension to DKD or McGoldrick and the starting 11 is extremely weak

 

I do worry, if he keeps scoring at this rate during the window, the offers that might come in will force the club's hand.

Same problem facing the 3 players infront of him in the odds for top goalscorer, could get injured at anypoint.
It's been a fantastic start, we're by no means the finished article and I'm sure we'll do more business yet, but all that said as an opposing defender would you want to be facing DKD, McGoldrick, Phillips, Vickers then Kelly and Cleary off he bench?
I can't see many teams in the league with that amount threat in the final 3rd, I'm trying to find the team that's outscored us in the league, that's right nobody and all from open play.

 

And that's all great and we'll survive because of our attacking strength. Unfortunately we still have pretty much last seasons defence, which was not far off relegation form.

 

Early days but beating Plymouth was a big statement and Burton I don't think are a easy side to.beat very direct. It's just the defence that's a worry and squad depth.

If it means having a smaller squad and retaining the likes of DKD, Phillips, Connell because we're spending less on wages then I'd rather that.

Would be tempting if we knew he was staying, but you're basically taking a treble - top 6, DKD top scorer and us not selling him. I wouldn't fancy it on that basis. Especially given that if he stays in form it makes it more likely someone comes in for him.

 

I'm not sure other than the relegated PL teams who's got the 5m required, Wrexham are stacked in that position, I think he's out of the price range of most mid table championship teams.
The most viable one to happen is Midfielder Hayden Hackney to Everton, Middlesbrough then strengthening up top with DKD

 

If DKD goes Thomas and Tovide will almost be nailed on to be brought in

 

Minimum 6 million required can’t see many clubs putting their hands in their pocket and paying that so therefore he will stay to go with the fact DKD likes it here and has made that clear to those upstairs he will only leave it a ridiculous offer comes in and they tell him it’s too good to turn down like Kitching

 

Given all the negativity that has come out about in the club it makes a nice change to hear a player and a top one at that saying he likes it here etc.

 

Hmm, bet DKD would like to treble his wages too, if an offer came in.
Such a refreshing change to have a player who seems happy to be here and isn't "injured", and having to play golf to recuperate.

 

Loads of talent there but there’s two big question marks. Keeping them all & how they cope over a long season.

We all know McGoldrick is knocking on but also Cleary & Vickers have never featured regularly over a full season anywhere. It’s a big step up for them two

Like any bet there's risks and mitigating factors of course.
Once the window closes we will have a better idea of course, but from what I've seen so far I don't think they'll be 6 teams better than us maybe 3 or 4, sort the defence out and we could be serious challengers.

 

We definitely could be if we keep this side together. However I wouldn’t touch the bet until the window shuts
