Happy that he's found himself a club.

Hope he makes a career of it. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen him play, so can’t comment on his ability, style or attributes, just a shame he didn’t make the grade with us, especially being Bruce’s lad. Would have been great to have him be a first team regular.

How? Look how far down he's dropped to find a club. If we're going to get bitten you'd think one of the dozens of clubs between us and them in the pyramid would have took him.

Give over. The only thing that's going to bite us is the fact that the Academy only seem to take scholars based on who their Dad was.

I’ve got absolutely no idea if it’s true but 2 different people who have had a kid / a grandkid at Barnsley with no connection to each other have told me that they feel like it’s not been about who the best talents are when it comes to who gets kept on.

Could just be bitter but plenty seem to hold that view.

All of Dyer, McCann, Kozluk & Hassell’s lads have had contracts & none have particularly impressed (up to now with two of them) which will only fuel the conspiracy theorists.

I know Bobby’s lad was incredibly unlucky with illness before anyone mentions it & they aren’t views of my own as I’ve not seen enough of any of them to judge them.

If they all came through at different ages would it be a problem? Look at how many players go through academies. Geographical location will obviously come into it. If they're good enough they'll be poached i.e Wilkinson. If they aren't good enough they'll be let go, I.e Dyer.
Always gotta take folk who have grudges/comments against the academy with a pinch of salt when they have personal ties with it. One of my old work mates had a son in there who he thought was the best thing since sliced bread, when actually he just wasn't very good at all.

Whats the going rates anyway? 90 quid a week up to 300 a week? Hardly something worth conspiring over bud.

I tend to agree with you. I can’t imagine the club would deliberately keep on inferior players just because of their parents.

We could do with one of McCann or Kozluk to make it just to shut the conspiracy theorists up.

Just for clarity, are you using the sons of two ex-players who are currently in the academy as an example of how we don't give academy places to the sons of ex-players?

Do you know summat we don't. I'd love the lad to succeed. But if you think he is capable at our level. I've only seen it, in small glimpses. But that applies to most (certainly academy ) players we let go.
Of the odd few we made bad decisions
    A couple of examples imo.
David Speedie (who got fair bit of game time, But Darlington saw his assets as a striker.)
Jordan Clarke. Was a strange one. Imo Shone in the few games he was given.

What I mean is we could do with one of them to do really well so that people stop saying they only got their first contracts because of their dads.

If none of them make it & they all get released then it will only add fuel to the rumours.

I'm not even sure we can class him as one mate. Took him another 4 years to get going in a remotely decent league for Accrington and then even longer to start really performing for them & Luton. At the time I think it was the right decision
