Barnsley Football Club are pleased to confirm the signing of Caylan Vickers on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, subject to EFL approval. The 20-year-old winger joins the Reds following a productive spell at Mansfield Town, where he registered 2 goals and 3 assists in 19 appearances in League One during the second half of the 2024/25 campaign. Having come through the academy ranks at Reading FC, Vickers made his professional debut at the start of the 2023/24 season, quickly establishing himself with a string of mature performances and memorable goals, including strikes against Bolton Wanderers and in a record-breaking 9–0 win over Exeter City. In early 2024, he made the move to Premier League outfit Brighton, where he continued to impress for their U21 side, netting 7 goals and contributing 4 assists before heading out on loan. Vickers is widely admired for his dribbling, low centre of gravity, and attacking intent, with comparisons drawn to several top young talents in the English game. Mladen Sormaz, Sporting Director, “We’re really pleased to bring Caylan to Barnsley. He’s shown great promise at both youth and senior level in League One. Caylan’s profile aligns closely with our strategy of bringing in players with the necessary attributes to implement Conor’s style of play. This move benefits all parties, and we’re confident Caylan will have a real impact at Oakwell.” Head Coach Conor Hourihane added, “Caylan is a player I’ve admired for some time. He’s direct, intelligent, on the ball, and brings a real spark in the final third. We’re looking to add youthful energy and creativity to our attack this season, and Caylan fits that profile perfectly. I’m looking forward to working with him and helping him take the next step in his development.” Caylan Vickers said, “It’s really good to finally be here. Speaking to the Head Coach, he persuaded me with the way he wants to play and the way he wants to improve me. “That was a big factor in me coming here and the size of the Club as well. I want to come here and play." Welcome to Oakwell, Caylan. BUY 25/26 SEASON TICKET HERE£15 BARNSLEY VS BURTON TICKETS Continue reading...
Good signing, seems to be a real talent. If we can hold on to DKD (big if) alongside Vickers and McGoldrick we’re looking good going forward. Would still like Tovide in as Watters replacement too. Right back has to be priority next.
Never heard of him, but got good reviews from Mansfield fans on their forum. Let's have some defensive reinforcements now, please.
Christ he looks young, making me feel old. Anyhow if there good enough there old enough, welcome Caylan.
When we going to sign a striker? Mcgoldrick isn't going to play every week. Jalo is made of papia mashet. Vickers and Cleary are wingers.
