Speaks volumes for our Back to the Future mentality that although sad to see Luca go I would take Scowen as part of the deal in an instant.
Even if he is 68.

I think we all need to get our heads around another major pivot by the owners and their wish to subsidise operations much less.
I'd rather keep Connell than not. But we've got to generate some decent fees. That probably means 2 or 3 of 4 players who we could actually get a fee for. Connell being one of them.
If the owners don't want to keep throwing their money away, what's the short term alternative? The obvious issue though, if they won't inject equity and can't cut our cost base, what players will we be able to cash in on next year if we're largely reliant on 38 year olds and loans?

Can't wait for a midfield of Bland, Nwakali and Yoganathan next season.
I never got the stick ,that odd job got after the miss in the semi final v Cardiff FA cup.
The chance Luca had at Wembley against Wednesday ,which would have promoted us to the championship, and ultimately cost us millions.
Rarely gets mentioned .
All the Wednesday fans behind their goal say it was harder to miss than score.
All iffs and buts.

We are selling Connell at the perfect time, for a very good price. It’s no secret his performances have dwindled over the last couple of seasons, probably due to his illness.
Jon Russell will hopefully attract bids as well, & no doubt Phillips, but that will go down to the wire on deadline day.
The bigger question is though, will we actually use that money to bring in replacement’s?
And even more importantly, will we sort that defence out!!?

Still find Wycombe a strange destination. Always felt when he went it would be for ambition, a mid table Championship club maybe with aspirations of kicking on.
Another L1 club, especially an unfashionable one in name, strikes me that he's gone for short term £££. Disappointing, but maybe I'm being a bit Wednesdeh.
Andrew Tennant likes this.
Maybe after watching him ,the scouts must think this is his level.
If he was at the level he was under Duff ,im sure it would have been Championship teams sniffing around.
