No me either, given the squad at the moment. And this puts us even further behind them all.

But that's what the club bang on about as being the aim.

 

We could be decent next season. Yoganathan, Russell and Phillips. Marvellous.

 

So you're 'assuming' we'll be promotion contenders eh?

 

I personally don't expect us to be near top 6. Especially with this happening too.

But that's the narrative those at the club give us all time. They always talk about promotion and that being the aim.

As it stands currently, this squad will be lucky to get top half. A long way to go in window so that can all change, but as of now we are a fair few off being near top 6. News like this puts us even further behind.

 

If it’s true then 1.3 doesn’t seem enough, let’s hope there’s a big sell on in there. I think he’ll be a big loss to us if not properly replaced. Even though he seemed to get a hard time from some, he’s still a hard working quality player at this level with good potential to play higher and seems a decent lad. It’s a shame he’s not going to the championship, not going to particularly enjoy him playing against us.

 

Would have wanted 2m. Would have accepted 1.5m plus 20/25% sell on fee and bonuses if they were to be promoted.

While I can concede he may have regressed, I don’t think you can call it two seasons because he was out for something like 7 months in one of those seasons.

He is still a good L1 player and I have no doubt he’ll end up in the championship. He’s only 24 after all.

 

I think 1.3m is beyond what I would settle for personally. Maybe I'm in the minority but I think he's had one stand out season and the rest of the time he's been pretty average.
Also got to take into account his position - very rarely a league one defensive mid would go for this amount of money.

 

Regardless of the fee, we'll be even weaker as a result of this transfer. We aren't going to go out and sign anyone as good or better than Connell.

 

Is the Luca of the past two seasons irreplaceable no but we don't have a natural replacement in the club so if he is going the two processes need to go hand in hand. He doesn't leave until we have a replacement. One out one in not scrambling around in two weeks time this deals been on the cards for a while no excuses.

If we sign someone as good as Connell has been for 2 seasons then he wont be much good, however if we sign someone as good as he was 3 seasons ago then I will be happy, lets wait and see what the replacement is like eh?….not sure Connell will ever get the form back he showed 3 seasons ago anyway.

 

I’ve said before that I’d be disappointed if we lose Luca to a team in our division. Especially for the price mentioned in this thread.

He’s a midfielder that will actually put his foot in and not fanny about. Nobody else we have can do that. I like Bland and think he will be good for us but it’s a lot to expect him to replace Connell this season I think. If we sell then it’s another player we need to replace and given how we’ve replaced players in recent seasons, I’m not expecting too much.

If he does go, who we having as captain? Not loads screaming out to me for it.

 

Replacement? Honestly don’t think there will be one brought in,up to another young en to step in

Yoganathan and Bland will deputise.

I wonder if the new funds will re ignite the Koroma deal.

 

Yoganathan is more forward thinking I’d say. Russell replacement in my opinion.
