Given we only initially offered Humphrey’s a one year deal I suspect we were paying him a significant amount, and one we didn’t want to pay for a second season unless he’d had an unbelievable season and likely, we were a division higher. If we’re paying high wages, they need to be our best player and tearing the division up. The sad reality is that for large parts of the season, he just didn’t try. That’s a liability, not an asset and certainly not worthy of increasing our losses for.
Well what else are we meant to say about him ?. Give him credit or criticism then, for when he didn't play for us.
It is far too early to write him off and he did improve as the season went on but I would say that we needed someone more experienced to improve the team immediately, hence another declining season.
Let's be fair, one win in six wouldn't have got Conor the job at any other league 1 club so the admiration for him is yet to be fulfilled. Everyone needs to be given an opportunity in life.
What I'm asking for is I don't understand the point your trying to make. So you don't rate him, and you blame him for only being here for one season ?. And yet you say he did a job for us. So does that mean a good one or a bad one etc.
Phillips in his time at Barnsley at least has never been a centre mid, he’s always drifted to the right often a passenger waiting to get the ball with a bit of space and he has that final killer ball/switch and a great shot on him. I don’t think Calling him a centre mid is fair when he’s rarely actually stood in the same line as our centre mids when we have the ball
Why don’t you hold Devante in the same regard, given that he scored 2 goals in 20 appearances at the end of last season? In his actual position.
