As frustrating as our lack of transfer activity is right now; You do realise that most contracts expire at the end of the month don’t you?

 

Which is why players with expiring contracts are allowed, as the better ones have been doing in droves, to sign pre-contracts before then so they don't end up out of work on 1st July.

 

I'm sure we will bring at least a couple in fairly soon to appease the fans but my gut feeling would be that we will be left scrambling around at the end of the window trying to use a bit of the DKD money.
Whatever happens I'm sure we'll get told that we've done our business in the most meticulously planned way.
Personally I'm not fussed when we sign players as long as we're not making excuses when the season starts.

Well my Bcfc mate who works at Bradford City as just rang me and said the same.
So there must be something in it.
He wasn't overwhelmed when I told him how many goals he got last season

I do love some of our fans.
Throughout this thread, we've got people complaining
That we haven't signed any free agents
That we haven't signed the players that other teams have, despite never being officially linked to them
That the club aren't spending any money
That we are signing a player for a fee, when there are other free options available
That we haven't signed anyone yet, despite many players refusing to engage in contact talk at this stage of pre season as they're on holiday
That were signing a 40 year old keeper
That were signing a 40 year old keeper as a coach
That were signing a young keeper on loan when we should be giving our young players that chance
That we haven't yet signed a keeper

As much as we all want to have the excitement of signing players right now, any time over the next few weeks would still be considered early (even if we've started pre season, as they'll also be in pre season written their parent clubs)

Remember we have previously looked at bringing in players several weeks into the actual season, in the past which has no doubt cost us points early doors.

Whilst I have little faith in recruitment team judging by their track record, you can't complain about this transfer window, this early on. We've never done our business openly.

 

The club have so far given the fans zero encouragement that next season will be any better than last .

If we lose him to Bradford then that is a statement of where we are now. They’ve barely paid a fee for a player in the last few years.

Definitely agree with you on that, even go as far as to say Bradford are bigger club.
I can also remember days gone by(mid 70s) when they were our biggest derby game….very fiesty off the pitch too , scary in fact tbh

We’re a lot smaller if they’re prepared to pay him more. What a mess this lot have got us in.
