Probably but I was going for tactful. I have friends who have been through hell with this very thing.
Its one of very few areas of society where we need equality to help men.

Oh, I agree. My school never did Father’s Day until I arrived and I was strongly advised not to when I said that I would be doing. We made gifts and everything.

I know its hard for the kids who don't have Dads around, but the reality is they've probably noticed this themselves.
I think we are often too quick to try and protect people's feelings when the reality is they are having them anyway.
I do feel for the kids of single parents who don't get to see both.
All the data we have shows this leads to a higher chance of negative outcomes. So whatever we are doing in the education system isn't currently helping.

I grew up without my dad around, but considered Father’s Day an opportunity to celebrate better male role models, like my grandad.

It's fair to say mothers expect being treated and spoilt way more than dads do.

Fair to say if my wife had spent mother's day doing what I've done today she wouldn't be impressed however I'm not fussed.

I have the role of both father and step father- later was certainly a harder job. My hats off to every father / step father / carer out there.

Very proud though of all four of mine as they have all worked hard , got their university education and doing things they want to in life. As a parent carer that's all you want for your kids - they turn out to be good people and are happy in life.

I seem to remember reading that Mother's Day was originally time off for girls in service (maids etc) to go and visit their mother's. Fathers Day never really existed, just a made up day.

Father's day was never that big a thing when I was young tbh. Mothers day came from mothering Sunday so was always celebrated.
Happy Fathers day to everyone on BBS.

Parents can't just cut out the other parent without good reason. If it has to go to court contact is nearly always given, apart from in extreme cases of violence to the child. It doesn't need to cost a fortune either, you can self represent.

    This x1000.

Growing up without one left weird feelings and emotions, when my best mates dad was our rugby coach and my other best mates dad would play footy in the park with us, it left me wondering why don’t I have one? It took until my teenage years to see my grandfavva wa the role model I needed. A real living legend.

That may be what the rule book and hearsay says, it's hardly ever that clear cut and in reality it's very different.

Mother’s Day deserves to be a bigger occasion. They work 10 times harder than us.

Mothering Sunday originated in the Middle Ages, some sources back to the eight century; and became a Sunday where you returned to your mother church during lent - you are right that this meant people ‘in service’ returned ‘home’ to be with their families.

Just some of the things my grandad did that made him awesome:
    - Survived being sunk four times during WW2
    - Cycled 20 miles to work every day when he was 14
    - Spent his Summer holidays riding all day on the Big Dipper, Blackpool, as his dad was the driver
    - Built Emley Moor mast
    - Had wrists the size of my thighs
    - Hospitalised his sister’s partner when he discovered that she was being regularly beaten up by him
    - Passed his motorcycle test while also being knocked off by a car
    - Being married to my Nana for over 70 years, and looking after her as she became old and frail
    - Taking us into his home when my parents divorced and we lost ours
    - Picking me up from primary school every single day I went there
    - Teaching me how to ride a bike, play football, box, build an igloo, and be a man
    - Going deaf, almost blind, but still doing every day with a smile on his face
