Hopefully that means he's too busy to 'design' anything further for us.

Presumably, they're unhappy with it, which is why they've made it difficult to see what the detailing is. Not a fan of the 'drying out felt tip' style of the stripes.

It's not saying much but it's better than the clothes he sells on his own website.

so basically he's mainly taken one of their seventies kits and moved the stripes over to the other shoulder?

No he hasn't. He's copied an old one using a faulty photocopier. Like he did with ours.

I realise it's a bit irrational, but my contempt for this talentless, overhyped, sweatshop monkey gets deeper every time I'm exposed to the f*#¿er. At least he's ballsing it up for someone else, so hopefully he hasn't had time time to put a load of stars or chickens on a yellow shirt for us. Actually, it's not irrational, he's a complete tw¿t.

The words up, right, ar*e, their, it, shove, up, spring to mind....though not necessarily in that order.

Its not just City, he's done a few shirts for teams in the club world cup and they're all terrible

A great example of people spending time and money on stuff that doesn't matter. You're not telling me we sold more shirts or his involvement in anything has had any impact what so ever.

It was the whole "a Barnsley kit is whatever I want it to be" line which annoyed me. It felt like he was being intentionally antagonistic.

Ahhh, KidSuper. Another one for the podcast should I actually get round to it.

What a time to be alive that was.

Looks quite good from a distance (as the original is an absolute classic) but the close-ups look like a cheap training top which would sell for £25 if it wasn't the first team shirt.

Hindsight's a wonderful thing. At the time I could see the merit in it. JAQ had influence in the fashion world and like him or not, KidSuper was a big name. So I can see from a marketing pov how this may have felt like a bit of a coup. However this is Barnsley, and not everything translates (I'm sure JAQ is now acutely aware of this).

That's not to say we should completely abandon the idea of brand partnerships. Take Callum Simpson for example. His profile is going stratospheric and IMO we should be doing everything we can to capitalise on creating partnerships with him.

This Dortmund monstrosity is also his work. Can't figure out whether it'll be their home kit next year or it's a special edition - but the pricing suggests it'll be worn 4069157826181-1_h47qudouuzwc50su.jpg by the first team.

The club contacted Callum years ago, worked together to build his profile very early on. Prior to him linking up with Boxxer/Sky. Being into boxing, and knowing certain people in the industry, I spoke to folk and we were told he’d go all the way to world level. Of course, he said the same himself, but he would do, wouldn’t he?

Once Shalom and Sky reps were involved, it grew massively. Then you’re hoping he’s all that, and the train doesn’t derail. Happily, it’s still full steam ahead. And those two events at Oakwell will have done wonders for the club/town. It’s also a bonus that he’s a very humble but hugely ambitious young lad. He’s likeable and is pretty much the most recognisable Barnsley person now. Without him and his ability it’d have gone nowhere.

I’m sure that partnership will remain intact.

Colm Dillane can get in the bin.

He designed it - just like he designed our stars home kit a couple of years back - i.e. ripped off (and nearly copied identically) a kit from years ago. There is absolutely nothing new about it other than being puma rather than Umbro.

I’m sure he does well in his field - but if his primary job was designing kits then he is absolutely pinching a living!

Apparently he’s had an inspirational idea for the England test cricket team, they’re going to wear all white…
