Ain't nothing but a heartache Ain't nothing but a mistake... Along with Now I can see that we're falling apart From the way that it used to be Yeah. Can relate Barnsley to the Backstreet Boys for sure
I'm sure there's probably been a gayer suggestion in the history of this BBS but not one that didnt involve actual anal penetration.
Brentford nailed it with The Streets' 'Turn the Page' (instrumental version). I think it's spot on, and unique. Some years ago, I was allowed to have a play around and we had Run Boy Run by Woodkid for a couple of games (think Stendel was in charge). I had no further input. Busy with a million other things. Anyone mentioning Civic Green, that was a me thing. But it was never designed to be a walkout song. We asked them to alter some lyrics a bit to a song they'd already wrote about the town, and if they'd come down, let us shoot a video so we could launch the new season with it online. I think it was perfect for that. I'm not sure it fits as a walkout song. And certain folk at the club didn't like it.
Needs to be something punchy, well know and uplifting, my number one genre is Rock but there isn't a song that jumps out instantly that would appeal universally, I'm mean based on last season The importance of being idle by Oasis would be fitting or after our results insomnia by faithless for our fan base. Would love a 60 second blast of the chorus of I am The Resurrection by The Stone Roses, would signify our rise
I always liked the tunes played at Wembley for the 2000 playoff final. Right here right now Fat Boy Slim then Let Me entertain You Robbie Williams.
You’ll never ever get a consensus on this subject since music is as diverse as people’s tastes. Sorry.
Songs in general, not just a walk out song need a revamp, we have had some good ones over the years (Allez, Allez, Allez & Marley Watkins song spring to mind) but we base them on individual players - we're Barnsley FC so they've got a lifespan of about 6 months. We shouldn't get uptight about other clubs having it, 99.9% of songs are sung by numerous teams and if it works and improves the atmosphere, so be it. Pigs think that their "if you don't ******* bounce then you're a blade" song is original, since taken by Derby and a couple of other clubs - it's a Milan song they've nicked and changed the lyrics, Milans sung it for over a decade. Our original Allez song: We got Daniel Stendel, We’ll play it from the back, Kieffer, Moore and Woodrow, And Pinnock at the back, Mowatt and McGeehan, Dimi Cavaré too, Skipper Adam Davies, And magic Mamadou, Allez, Allez, Allez!… Don't base it on players, base it on the club.. We are Barnsley FC, We've been right to the top, Two afternoons at Anfield, we've stunned the ******* Kop, Norman Hunter's Army, after Clarkey paved the way, The one and only Rimmo, Mr Barn-s-ley Allez, Allez, Allez
Callum Simpson fight just now showed why Livin on a prayer is a great song for the crowd to sing along to. Goosebumps
" Well its a midnight damn right, we're wound up too tight... I got a fistful of whiskey, and the bottle just hit me... " Yeah I really like Nickelback, and I always remember when this was the Wwe Raw theme music.
That Civic Green song is excellent though I can se why it isn’t a ‘walk out’ song If Radio Ga Ga (or anything else by Queen) is in the running, could I suggest ‘Agadoo’ as a better alternative.
Just read this. I’ve just said similar in response to someone bigging up the use of country roads, Hey Jude and Sweet Caroline. To me it’s all cliched drivel and it doesn’t work too well at Barnsley. I don’t have any issue with Queen that said - though I reckon trying to use radio gaga would be as tragic and cringeworthy as an Ed Davey tv appearance
Daydream believer was a good singalong back in the day. We'd have to get some clever inventive BBS'er to rewrite the " Mark Magee" lyrics but everyone sang along so the atmosphere was good..
We just need a simple song that everyone knows the words to and no-one else uses. Some of the suggestions on here, I've never heard of. Hull KR fans sounded brilliant singing Erasure's "Respect" We could do with something similar. Bearing in mind that the average Barnsley fan is over 50, maybe an old Rolling Stones or Beatles classic would do the job.
Yep ..the only certainty is that folk won't agree. Music, kit, new players, manager. Never get a consensus on owt.
