I'm not so sure why any fan would want us to sell DKD at any price tbh. I agree our most valuable assett. Other players may bring in what we need. Conor wants him to stay to be part of his plans. But accepts the situation if its necessary if offers don't come in for others.
Tied to us till 2027. If it was only another year I could understand, rather than let him see his contract out.
He signed a 3 year deal. Must have been happy to. (Unless there's a release clause. I'm not aware of one)
Phillips and Connell are in the same position I believe. So I'm guessing Russell, who I think is a very good player, Will be the obvious choice with only a year left. Unless we offer him a new deal that he accepts. The obvious one to go first with any real value. Imo.

Another new kit sponsor. I miss the days of ORA being a long term thing.

I thought I was the only fan that actually rates Jon Russell

We are levelling down to balance the books, player sales will first go towards balancing the books then anything left (if anthing) will be used to plug holes with lesser quality players, as this strategy proves unsuccessful and results in further loss of ST sales its rince and repeat. Downwards Spiral unless we can get a cash injection from somewhere to stabilise and build but I cannot see that coming anytime soon.

I'd rather lose Phillips than Russell. Needs tying to an extended deal but can't see him signing one.

I agree better players around him,he'd be even better,he was best player we had and other teams knew that, but on form they couldn't stop him,he'll get same kind of goals in championship as he got in this league,I'd say closer to 5m,if we're losing 650,000 a month,4and half month his moneys gone,we might aswell go out of buissness and set up again,if we did that 20yrs ago we'd av come through leagues with probably hardly any debt, rant over, but it makes you wonder.

Well be getting less than a million,if we sell him for 3m we'll agree those who bought him will only have to pay his transfer fee at 200,000 year, defender that went Coventry, names gone, wasn't it said well only get 1m a year paid,we need some hard core men behind the scenes

If we get £3m for him its great business. Late 20s, never played above League One, 4 x return on the investment in 12 months.

If we get £3 million for him then the owners will only have to find £6 million to meet the annual running costs for this coming season rather than the predicted £9 million. There will be no extra money for incoming transfers, no extra money for wages, it will just mean that we lose one of the few good players we have and our owners will still lose loads of money but not quite as much as they expected.

Tbh Baz quite a few (and on here) rate Russell highly. When I first saw him. I thought his positional awareness of his teammates was possibly as good as I've ever seen in a tarn shirt. He was never a defensive midfielder imo. I think Blackpool away was the first time we tried him in a more going forward role. By far and away motm.
His defensive qualities were lacking. If we get the right players in midfield I can see him bringing his 'A' game to another level.

If we got the transfer fee up front. Others will demand the same from us.
It allows clubs to budget over a period not that single year.
3m @ £200k would take 15 yrs. Its not how it works. Chelsea sign player on 6 yrs contracts and spread the cost of the transfer fee over the same period. Biggest downfall on that length of contract. Is if they bought a dud. They get no return.
Hence why souness is totally against what Chelsea do. says some players are happy to accept such lengthy contracts. Set for life. And money is more important than their career.

I mentioned that in another post mate. My fear is. If we don't offer him a new one and he doesn't accept. He'll be one of the first to let go. If an offer comes in. 11 goals from midfield should at least mean it's not peanuts. (Trouble is, some of our fans don't take into consideration, length of contract.) we shouldn't get peanuts for that reason. Be better to keep him. As a great assett for next season. And if we manage to do better than most think. He may well want to stay.

I hope young Marshy gets an offer somewhere mate btw.

But there will be money for transfers - just like there was to buy him in the first place. If we do sell him and don't replace him/pay for someone to replace him then the deficit will be even lower.

What will be interesting is if the £9m deficit is before or after Benson, Pines, Cosgrove etc have left the wage bill. I reckon that's at least a million quid a year on those three on wages alone.

If the £9m takes into account them being gone then it's even worse than folk have said.

If I'm not mistaken mate. The losses envisaged will be about the new EFL 1 and 2 rules and clubs will have to rein their spending in.

    Interesting read.
