I don’t care massively about the shorts. I actually prefer black if I’m honest. But the home shirt should never have f****** stars (last two seasons) on it, unless it’s above the badge to reference our one major trophy. If some fashionista type wants to get creative, use the third kit. And the song is played by Man Utd. It’s also sh**e. It actually offends me when I hear it playing. It just set the tone for the season at Oakwell.
They really are. If we walked out in blue and white stripes with Hi Ho Silver Lining would it not be of significance? You do know we can have both, yeah? A promotion and proper fan engagement. Managed it many times.
Agree completely about the song. It offends me too that it’s Man Us go to song. I know it splits opinions but I really would go with the Civic Green song I like that it’s original to Barnsley, written by a band from Barnsley about Barnsley.
Bring back Toby Tyke scoring into the away end before kick off. Used to be the highlight of most match days that.
One line was re-written by me. Was one of the best things we did in my time there, asking them to do that song. Ended up being a waste of time sadly. That’s life I suppose. Great lads, Civic Green. Did it gratis too.
Well that one person needs to swallow their pride and understand it’s about the town/club and not them. I’d have it on every game, bizarre it’s not played in any capacity to be honest. The club should be supporting local talent.
What is real annoying is that we supposedly have a head of fan engagement who presumably is in charge of the matchday experience who must be so utterly incompetent that they have not only ruined the matchday but flat out refuse to engage with fans or even attempt to improve things and yet they are still in a job. We all criticise Sormaz but Flatman has performed atrociously on the off the pitch stuff as well. In fact I'd argue that he's got a much easier job and done just as bad if not worse.
I suggested that for years. Fell on deaf ears, think the safety officer felt it could be seen as antagonising the away fans. Different world now isn’t it? SPOILERS (kids shouldn’t read) Then the chap who’d been in the costume for years quit. He was tired of being abused. So I dunno who wears it these days.
It's not a different world, we just have many incompetent people at the club sadly. Anyone with any level of competency would overturn that decision made on safety grounds but bfc don't have competent staff anymore
I’m not sure about that mate. I know plenty of cracking staff and the safety officer is one of them. It’s really not as black and white as “he’s no good” or “she’s great” etc. I’m not referring to myself when saying this, but in the last couple of years loads of good people chose to leave, and many were stalwarts. You lose a lot of knowledge, particularly local knowledge in that situation and I think there’s still an element of transition about the place. I mean, I could be wrong. They might be useless. But there’s a lot that goes into getting things right and joined up thinking helps a lot. Takes time to build bonds etc. I would like to think that with Darren Hayes back there at least, it’ll all come together over the next 12 months. It’s down to going the extra mile a lot of the time. Getting out there. Knowing your audience. Engagement. I’m looking forward to this new era but it really needs those in certain roles to really bring folk along. Communicate and be present. Time will tell but you know me, I like to look at things optimistically before I accept it’s actually s***e.
