In ture BBs fashion here's a random topic. I've just had a debate with a guy in a pub who was convinced it was fake. I thought this was now limited to wind up merchants on social media, but the passion in this fella was real. So people of the BBS, did humans really land on the moon?
Yes. Proof is easy. They put mirrors on the surface that are still used today to reflect laser light back at us to measure distance. Also the Russians congratulated the Americans on their achievement. No way would they have done that unless it was true.
As pro-science as I am, I am not convinced that the Aldrin, Armstrong, Collins crew landed on the moon. I'm sure that we have landed people there, and that the mirrors etc are there. I'm just not convinced that we've got everyone back in one piece.
I thought it was common knowledge that the moon landings were filmed in the old lead mines in upper Swaledale?
When someone from NASA was asked " What's stopping people from going to the moon right now? " The reply they got " We don't have the right technology to do so " Erm ok then
It's a well known 'fact' that astronauts fetched Coronavirus back from the moon. The original strain had a 48 year incubation period....checkout the dates.
I watched the film hidden figures in Netflix, and it sort of made sense to me how they managed to land them back. If the Soviet Union could do it, there's no reason to think the Americans couldnt.
Actually it was a former astronaut who said it and he didn't say that we don't have the right technology, he said that he personally would love to go to the moon "in a nanosecond" but that NASA had destroyed the technology and it's a painful process to build it again. He was referring to the fact that the systems we used to get to the moon became obsolete and so we're mothballed and the factories etc eventually demolished and new ones built focusing on what NASA has needs for now which are different technologies for different things. We have technology, as in the human race has the knowhow, NASA as an organisation no longer maintains the specific equipment required to jump in a rocket and head off there immediately on the whim of an astronaut.
I don't deny it's possible in theory, but I think the whole thing was a massive PR stunt. As I say, I'm sure that some NASA astronauts have been to the moon, I'm just not convinced it was the Apollo 11 mission that did it.
I just think the Soniet union wpukd have known enough to have discredited the landings if they didn't happen. After all, why did America not lie about orbiting the earth first for eg?
