Now have a clear out and use that result as motivation and something to give confidence over the summer
Let's not do what Flicker did after the great escape season in keeping faith in guys not good enough. Today doesn't change that we need the biggest clear out we've had in a lot of years.
How will it give confidence if you e cleared everyone out? You gut any organisation and it takes forever to recover.
We can't just disappear players under contract. Other clubs have to come in for them. The fans have to accept that. Those out of contract and those not good enough who do attract bids should be gone though.
I think we have the basis if a decent squad but we need to get rid of half a dozen players and obviously bring in half a dozen better ones. Sadly I expect that in addition to the half dozen we need to get rid of, we'll also lose at least 2 that we should be wanting to keep. So we need at least 8 players who are better than most of what we have now. A pretty tall order.
We've got a core of skilful players for league 1, but we need to get the balance right to create a strong reliable team that lets the better players win us games. It will be interesting to see which players we can manage to move on and what standard of players we bring in.
Phillips is a saleable asset and he clearly wants to move. I’m hoping he can bring in enough cash to avoid us having to sell DKD. Unlikely though….. Hard to see him fetching much more than £1m. Been poor since Xmas.
It's vital we sort the defence out as a priority, I don't think they need the likes of me to point out the obvious, if we get that part right it gives us a platform, if we start applying sticky plasters thinking so and so could do a job there then our issues will continue.
Is it Monday, when the retained list is out? I'm really excited tbh....well on who we release and then eventually who HE brings in. I'm sure today's performance won't influence his decision making on certain players. Imho I hope he gets that striker to push us on...Watters showed in his cameo today how awful a footballer he is.
Agreed, you can't really expect to get around the playoffs or higher conceding the 6th most amount of goals in the league. Looking at a couple of numbers, most goals conceded on the counter attack (10) and 4th most from set pieces (20).
He’s got 32 goals and 26 assists across three seasons. From midfield. 27 year old, entering his prime, with two years (contractually) in the club’s favour. If it’s not around the £3,000,000 mark as a minimum we may as well close the club. We shall see I guess.
To be fair, we’re never likely to know unless it leaks from somewhere or other. And even then it’s not always fact. But from a BFC perspective let’s hope they get what he’s worth.
Yes definitely. Don’t think Earl can play LB, need someone there competing with Gent. The obvious one is another CH, I really don’t want to see MDG play there again and we will have Shepherd (and Lopata) back. Would love another who’s proven at L1 level as I don’t see Roberts playing every week next season.
Totally agree...stats are one thing and I agree he is an asset but I really believe he's not the TEAM player we need...often goes missing and defo plays for himself. I like the guy but I'd be surprised if we get £750k for him. I reckon his agent has had something lined up for a while.
Agreed,Pines and McCarthy to go.Sheperd and Lopata back plus a proven central defender in and MDG should be ok.
MDG ok for what? Hopefully not one of our regular central defenders, he’s just too lightweight and too erratic.
