14 year old girl found guilty of attempted murder after trying to kill three people at a school has been granted anonymity by the courts who refused to release her name due to her being a minor.
It was a premeditated attack and she has shown zero remorse for her crimes yet by the time she hits 22 she could be out of prison and shacked up with an innocent guy (or girl) and working around vulnerable people without them ever knowing her past

I don’t know the law, but surely it will be visible on any DBS check?
I’m not in favour of naming criminals as their families could become targets, I’d rather see them sent to prison for as long as it takes them to be rehabilitated. But in the modern world it doesn’t take long for names to be circling t’interwebs even when they’ve been granted anonymity.

And what if her behaviour is partially the result of a deprived and abusive upbringing? Way too complex a question for populist knee-jerk 'one size fits all' opinions.

Our prison system doesn't rehabilitate offenders, sadly most come out of prison as more hardened criminals. The government took a step in the right direction by appointing James Timpson as prisons minister but the reforms he will put in place will take years (if not decades) to bear fruit.

Am ok with anonymity for the offender as long as their parents or legal guardians are named in lieu.

Who knows, we could see a whole new era of parenting.

Then they should stay in prison and never be able to come out “hardened criminals”.
I get that the whole prison system needs to change for this to happen.

Above my pay grade, let the powers that be decide, but as a Dad, an Grandparent, yes.

Thought about it , changed my mind a few times and dependent on the crime and if found guilty came down on yes.
Premeditated murder and violent crime certainly,
Even serious shoplifting , shop owners have aright to be warned.

At 14 you know right and wrong. At 14 you know you can't just go around planning and attempting to murder people.

She may well have gone through abuses, but that doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Brains don't fully develop until 25. Should we allow 24 year old anonymity?

The girl should be pictured and named. When you do something so bad everyone should know about it.

    What’s the benefit?
If they never show remorse all you’ve done is give them notoriety for life.
If after serving the sentence given to them they have turned their life around, how can they reintegrate into society with “teenage killer” hanging over their heads?

Maybe but that would require massive spending on new prisons and people to staff them. The majority of people would be unhappy at the consequent tax rises.
