A completely apt result to sum the season up - one that reflects this team/squad and season perfectly - embarrassing and shameful. The starting line up also perfectly represented the complete shambles of a recruitment process we have had over the last windows, 2 attacking midfielders up front even though, we have watters (who someone at the club decided was good enough after a season loan) and 2 other players recruited in January who we were told were forwards. - none of them good enough to play in that position ahead of 2 midfielders. We also had cotter and limbeseka as wingers - also judged better than Rodriguez/and the American. I don’t know how someone can stand in front of a microphone and find words to defend their decisions without sinking into the ground in embarrassment.
Be interesting to see who signs him. Apart from the pass that Watters should have buried (and I know how YT will react to this) he was as poor as anyone today. He is one of those I absolutely will not be disappointed to not see next season. It’s a long list mind.
There are essentially two types of player at this Club: ‘Has ability but the heart of a pea’. Eg. Phillips, Russell and ‘Tries hard - but just not up to it’. Eg Mael, Barry and a good few others. The former have absolutely no excuse for the season they have just produced.
Spot on Dave...players like Watters who are just poor, I can forgive but the more talented technically gifted....it just annoys. It all boils down to recruitment though doesn't it?....Too many of one and not enough of the other...I would, love in a romantic way to see Russell, Phillips and Nwakali as our midfield but it would never work and I've seen enough gutless performances to know it won't work either. The defense just angers me, just basic stuff, tracking runners, getting out muscled and inability to run a ball out or show someone to the line..."arrrrrggggggghhhhhh". Good luck Conor lad.
He wasn’t great. Nobody was. Second game running where DKD was poor too. Roberts. Again. Connell was abysmal. Again. Just another collectively sh*te performance. I like Phillips. I’m a big fan of his output. From midfield, his numbers at this level (and in a struggling side this year) are very good. Particularly when he’s often played on the right. For a nominal fee, he’s been absolute value for money and the kind of signing we need to make more often. That happened three years ago. How many good signings have been made since? DKD for definite. But it wasn’t nominal was it? It was a fat fee for BFC standards. Other than that, you’re struggling. I suppose the likes of Russell and O’Keeffe have had their moments. Beyond that…? However, I’m not fussed if Phillips leaves. Or any of them. Ideally, we get money for the lot of them and start from scratch. I’m not including the academy lads in that.
Very true can't knock him for his assists and goals but often goes missing today was just half hearted.
12.30 to 6.30, taken up on a Saturday for me. Not exactly local, not getting any younger. That was a very unhappy trip today. Wasn't even apathetic, just a weird, empty emotionless day out. I can't buy into this "Mladen came across very well t'other day" nonsense. I really want Conor to succeed, but honestly can't see how he can. We could be stuck here forever, or worse. 20+ days to decide whether to renew. I don't know where the spark of inspiration is going to come from.
More like a bottom three squad for next season. shambles. A million miles away from a competitive team as you can get.
As much as it pains me to say it, I hope Daz Clarke and Neil Collins are both falling over laughing, at this total shower of dung. Both of them deserve to, after the way they were treated!.
And whether it was wrong and kind of unprofessional of him to do so. Didn't Clarke say critical things about the players a number of times, which were and are of course, absolutely correct!.
He did though didn't he (Cole), from Jan/Feb onwards. In two seasons as well, under both Duff & Collins.
Was the disallowed goal for them actually offside or not? What a brilliant ball & even better finish it was by their number 3 who I thought had a cracking game.
Not really best player on pitch under Duff in the play off semi at home to Bolton. A scapegoat though so I won't get into it. Anyway we have max watters now
So your picking out just one game then where he was the best player, from Jan/Feb onwards. When did we score 5 at Forest Green by the way, because he moved onto 15 that day, and then didn't get anymore.
I thought Phillips was very good against Peterborough on Monday. Today his final ball was off & when it is he tends to be poor as he’s the type of player that takes risks in possession.
Do you honestly think the players care. Hence the reason I chuckled when the whistle went. What's the point in getting stressed ,when they don't give a flying F%@ k
