I'll keep this short because Dr Who just came on. To move forward as a club we need to accept where we are and formulate a plan to get us back where we belong. Acceptance is the key though. Without that, you can't move forward. Today was bad but it was a dead rubber. I'm happy to get behind Connor and move forward.
Acceptance of where we belong, League 1. This is our level now, the Championship is to us what the Premier league is to Leeds United. Every so often we might be successful & get promoted, but we’ll always end up coming back down within a few seasons. That’s the state of football.
Nah, dunt agree. We need to believe that we can overachieve for our size. We shouldn't accept L1 football as our level. Obviously that's where we are but I don't want to accept that at all. Aim for the stars and you might get higher than you think.
Our ambition has to be the Championship. Historically it's ours! I feel our record as the longest serving club in there is a proud fact. As long as we play entertaining football with a sniff of a Cup run I'm ok... it's how it was for most of my years and I'm contented with that.
Yeah exactly Kam & Wuz, just accepting it and moving on, is surely the wrong negative attitude to have. Otherwise, what on earth is the point anymore ehh!.
I'm hurting now. Losing to Shrewsbury is pathetic. Shrug your shoulders and move forward. The clubs in a malaise. You can't ditch that until you accept where you are. Once you do that you have a blank canvass. That's quite liberating.
It's skewed. I was always proud of our 2nd tier record but for most of those years the tier above was tangible. That top tier, the Prem, is now so far out of reach, and not just for Barnsley, it's unreal. The Prem is an exclusive club; an exhibition league. The Championship is the top tier as far as traditional league footy goes, so by that logic, we are sadly 'at our natural level'. The struggle now is to stay there.
My acceptance speech. I want to thank my Arms for always being by my side, My Legs for always supporting me, as best they could, My Fingers, i have always been able to count on them, an finally my Hips they have never lied. keep the faith, C,O,Y,R.
Momentum and belief is vital in football, just look at Wrexham who we more than matched twice. We were sat nicely in January but made a pigs ear of the transfer window so Clarke was the victim and honest Conor came in with all the hype. Unfortunately our momentum is most definitely downwards.
To be fair though mate Clarke told us this last year, yet he got sacked because it's a top 4 squad apparently.
As of the 2021 Census, the populations of Barnsley and Burnley are as follows: Barnsley Town population: 71,422 Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley: 244,600 Burnley Town population: 78,266 Borough of Burnley: 94,700 Comparison While the town of Burnley has a slightly higher population than the town of Barnsley, the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley has a significantly larger population compared to the Borough of Burnley. I don't see why we should accept League 1. Its not a given, As a kid growing up Burnley FC was like always very similar to us.
After watching that today I’m not even sure L1 is our home. Hard to remember as inept a display as that. I’m behind Conor and what he’s hoping to do but Christ he’s got his work cut out.
It's sad seeing how empty the stands were for the lap of unappreciation. It should be a wake up call to the board that watching average at best Football players won't be tolerated.
When we were relegated at Derby in 2018. I was ushered out of Pride Of Park in floods of tears by the Stewards. I think we're a division lower but we've reached that new low. It's a datum edge. You can't do owt about it.
