For his earlier comments. In my opinion, Marc has been an outstanding poster on the BBS, even before he joined Site Admin. For example, last Summer he quickly clamped down on some disgusting, irresponsible comments on here with regards to the Southport murders. He is tolerant without being soft. Keep up the good work, Marc. Kev
Yeah. He did me a massive favour when he banned me. It made me tone down my sexist posts and filthy innuendo's. Been less reliant on social media since.
Is that somewhere int tarn. ? I once did a full moon at the top of the headgear at Elsecar main. Cos of a rash statement I made. Silly me. I should have said tarn hall steps. It was very cold up there.
re Elsecar Main -- I have a brass disc with the inscription 'NCB Elsecar 138' Think it must have come from my Hoyland in-laws at some point - I use it as a key fob. Wonder what the number 138 refers to ?
Isn’t it a check - so they knew who was in and out? Early check systems usually employed a single check for each underground worker, which was usually taken home at the end of the shift. At the start of the shift the check was handed to the lamp man and exchanged for a safety lamp stamped with the same number as on the check. At the end of the shift the miner handed his lamp in and retrieved his check either from the lamp man or from a 'tally board'.
I still can't believe that at one time, I was allowed into the back office of BBS towers and became Site Admin. With my reputation.
thanks Bs - I thought it may be part of the system to check for each underground worker. If that's the case would the worker keep the same number te whole time he was working at Elsecar ?
Yeah be no good in Mythr Tydfil. Not unless there was a massive geological fault connected to a worm hole.
