Good luck to him, the sexy bstard. Hopefully he gets more of a free reign re the footballing side of things. Wouldn't surprise me if he's got Neerav and Mladen wrapped around his little finger, the sexy bstard. Have I mentioned that he's a sexy bstard?
Shouldn't that be the case anyway? He's the Playing/Coaching Staff's boss at the end of the day and ultimately carries the can for what happens results-wise.
Has there ever been a more reactive set of people running the club? Lose, lose, lose....... Win! Quick, announcement. Wouldn't have been my choice but hey ho, good luck to the fella.
I think that, in line with my signature, I'm going to try to just enjoy Conor's spell in charge. It might be fun.
I wish Conor all the the best, I hope it proves to be an absolute triumph for both the Club and him personally. I'll reserve my praise for the board until after I've seen the calibre of signings they're prepared to provide Conor with. He will have a full summer and a full preseason, he MUST be backed. If not, we might as well shut the doors.
Both Neerav’s and Mladen’s comments mention the improvements and CHANGES Conor has brought so far, including playing style, attacking football, improvement of players, inclusion of academy players, etc., but the naysayers on here still claim the Head Coach has no say, and all decisions are made by those above. Like a dogs with a bone.
Exactly, he's shown nowhere near enough to be appointed on a permanent basis but it is what it is. We don't have a pot to piss in. People on here still obsessing over his playing days.
Will Conor make a good Head Coach for us? I have no idea whatsoever. Then again, I didn't know how the likes of Allan Clarke (1st time around), Norman Hunter, Danny Wilson (ist time around), Andy Ritchie, Paul Heckingbottom, Daniel Stendal would perform, either. Also, there were a great number of fans who insisted Steele, Wilson, Ritchie & Heckingbottom were the 'cheap' option when internally promoted. All the best, Conor. Sadly, the vultures are circulating already.
Regardless of whether the fans wanted him to get the job or not. Everyone should get behind him. As they should with any appointment. Foolish not to. As with anyone, I wish em success.
He should be properly backed and properly supported of course, now that he's officially got the job. Whether he should have got it though, I suppose that argument doesn't matter anymore. So along with who leaves us in the summer then, let's see if there's any quality brought in as well. It doesn't have to bankrupt the club if its done sensibly, and not just on the cheap either. If they back him properly and give him more involvement in transfers and tactics etc, then I'm ok with that. And yeah obviously if he does well, that will attract other clubs I'm afraid, there's no getting away from that fact. But anyway that's all irrelevant at the moment, as we see out the remaining games of this season.
I want him to do well but the niggling doubt is that he has been part of the coaching system all season that has not got a tune out of them.
I keep hearing talk of improvements under Conor. Yet we’ve accrued 5 points in 7 games while he’s been in charge. Am I missing something?
Definitely looked better last few games Saturday we played some really good stuff 1st half. But you just know this team can leak goals for fun and individual errors almost every game. So frustrating especially watching those goals back.
I think the only realistic thing to do is to give the guy a chance. There are plenty of people on forums such as this that say one thing one moment and the complete opposite the next. Daryl Clark didn't look a bad appointment judged on experience, but it just didn't work out. Going back many years I remember a guy wrote to the Barnsley Chronicle suggesting Danny Wilson should be sacked after his second full season in charge on the basis he'd taken us as far as he could. Twelve months later we're in the Premier League. With hard work and a bit of luck you never quite know what's going to happen.
Don’t get me wrong we’re definitely more fun to watch. But results are actually worse. To take 2 points in his first 4 games against teams in the bottom 8 is an absolute disgrace.
