Just watched the goals again and without going over the top. Both of Jalo’s goals reminded me of someone. Then it came to me. Jimmy Greaves. Hope our board have the bottle to turn down the two mill bid from Coventry. He’s worth much more than that.
There isn’t one! I was referring to how we lost our best centre half last time. Sorry for starting a rumour.
I hope we don’t blink and sell him for such a fee. He’s been here 6 years, so would mean we’d developed him for someone else with very little profit. Absolutely pointless. Ideally he’ll have a cracking season and we’ll get to enjoy watching him repay some of the clubs investment.
I'm looking forward to watching him hopefully have a full season injury free next season. If/when we sell we need to do our usual sell on fee. Also looking forward to seeing how Bland gets on next season and it's a shame Gent got injured as I think there was a good young player in him aswell.
I get the sentiment, but I think the Kitching deal is probably not the best example. We certainly got over the odds for him, and to be fair, if we got a similarly daft offer for Fabio, I wouldn't be adverse to us selling him too. The issue is who we would bring in to replace them. With Kitching, we failed miserably on that front.
i really like Gent as a player and his ball control from long passes is as good as anything I’ve ever seen live.
I've always tried to support the lad, and it bugs me to hear fans saying he's over rated, and they can't believe all the hype etc!. Well, whether that was just a one off against Bolton, it really was great to see that. And my only disappointment (if you can call it that), was that he didn't make it a hat trick.
For me, with Kitching it was all about the potential. He had strength, he had pace, he was combative, he had confidence. He had/has all the (unteachable?) ingredients to kick on to be an elite player. Whether he does or not is another matter. I suppose Jalo is in a similar position with his core strengths. If he's used in a manner he was against Bolton (hopefully the blueprint of dynamic wingers and lots of running at defences sticks) it could be a very happy last few games for him.
He also had huge lapses in concentration and his positioning could be atrocious at times. I think he will have a very decent championship career, though I really hope he does fulfill his potential and plays many games in the premier league. Could never fault his effort, even in the games he was abysmal in just before he left.
