Moving house

    Moving back up north in the summer. Mrs got a new job in Manchester. Don't want to live in Manchester. Looking at maybe macclesfield area , anybody live around that area ? . Or any recommendations around that area?

    Prestbury - if you have loads of £ and want some footballers for neighbours.

    Seriously though - my daughter is moving away from Manchester because of the prices. For the price of a two-up, two down terraced house in a roughish part of Stockport, she can get a lovely semi-detached in a decent part of Sheffield.

    I've got friends in Macclesfield who really like it. Had a few very enjoyable nights out there but far too small for me to consider living there permanently. But that's just my personal thing - I like big cities. Transport links into Manchester are very good, and you're on the edge of the Peaks, which was one of the things I enjoyed most about living in Sheffield. You're about 25 minutes from Buxton, which is an absolutely lovely town.

    My mates who live in Macc never drive into Manchester. Train all the way or park and ride in East Didsbury then take the tram.
