Happened again yesterday with Bolton Keeper feigning Injury so Team can be given a talk for Tactics. Its getting boring now, wish they could bring a rule in to stop it Yes I know you can't tell if it's real or just a act but it's gettiing more and more regular now and killing game
Daughters watch Liverpool women's team and they have a sweep as to what minute keeper will go down injured- every game. Excuse some times to get tactics sorted or a quick team talk - blatantly obviously
Yeah it’s ridiculous. I can’t remember who it was but someone on here suggested that the players should have to stay in the centre circle rather than come over to the dugout. I remember when they made a song and dance about the time being added on is for fans entertainment as we were losing out on actual game time well I don’t particularly enjoy seeing keepers laying down for a couple of minutes every half of football.
It seemed an epidemic in the women's game for a while, spreading the man's game now. Least its made a difference coming from women's to mens rather than other way around for once...
Only way to stomp it out for me is the captain has to go off for the 30 seconds following a keeper being treated
That was me. It's a simple solution, they just all stand in centre circle or penalty area. No coaching allowed. Common sense hence no chance at all of it happening.
Simple to stop no in game coaching the team have to stop in there restart positions should stop the nonsense.
Not sure there's no chance of it not happening, teams will do it like Southampton did and do it at 60th minute every week, or when they're under the cosh and need a minutes rest. Stops all momentum and allows team to catch their breath
Easy solution is that if a keeper goes down injured he has to immediately leave the pitch for treatment and the sub goalie comes on and stays on until the first break of play at least one minute after the original goalie is ready to return. The only break in play will be to help the ‘injured’ keeper off and the sub goalie getting his gloves on and himself to his penalty area. The game can then restart immediately, with players not allowed to approach the coaching area. But in reality there would be no delay to the game at all, because if this rule was implemented the goalies would only ever go down if they were actually injured.
I hate feigning injury or cramp bo11ox. If you don't get up within 10secs. Get em off the pitch for a minute regardless of if trainer doesn't come on.
That was going to be my suggestion. Every team has a goalie on the bench (could even be included as an extra ‘free’ player if the rules changed which only counts as a sub if actually subbed on to see the game out). It would give the spare goalies something to do too rather than just bench warming for the season.
I wish the FA would grow some balls and do something about this. It's straight forward cheating. Simply take an off an outfield player instead of goalie. That would reduce the problem.
Can’t help think some of the answers on here is just over complicating an issue that’s not actually that big an issue. By that I mean it’s not like it’s happening repeatedly in one game etc. If it needs addressing I’d just go with the staying away from touching idea. Ultimately rules will always have loopholes that people will find. Reminds me of the one where Mourinho would tell Terry & Cahill when 1-0 up to bump into each other and go down to waste time as two players couldn’t go off at same time.
The "goalkeeper injury" trick was played by Bolton on saturday not long after the 2nd goal. All their players immediately went to the manager and the result was a triple substitution - not something you see often before half time. I don't think he would have made that substitution without talking to his players. Clear example of coaching during the game.
Paddy power offering 3/1 on David Raya needing "treatment" in first half tonight. Getting ridiculous now.....
