Nothing against Marsh, who seems like a nice lad, but I don't think many see him as having the same potential as Jalo.
I think he definitely should, based on his half-hour against Cambridge. He's a dribbler who needs a bit of room to run at players, before getting a cross in , or cutting in and shooting.
That's a fair point. I've never heard Jalo talk though, so I have no idea how good his English is. One would expect it to be pretty good really, as he must have attended school over here for several years.
It’s a wonder there’s anyone left in Turkey who was born there with the mass migration west over the last 30-40 years. When I was in Germany in the early 90s there were large settlements in big cities like Düsseldorf. Same in other nearby countries. An area of Brussels was almost a no-go zone for anyone but Turks. Mass migration has always been there and, of course, shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.
According to Wiki he was with Benfica before joining us at the age of 14 so you’re right - he must have spent a few years in our education system. Not all young lads will pick up a foreign language though, but I’m only speculating on that subject as I have never heard him speak either.
Personally I just don’t think he’s got the talent that the club have talked up - he’s had a number of chances and bar one assist I cannot recall much in return - just a bit overrated after doing well against academy sides but just not got it to compete in the more physical first team environment. Should have gone out on loan this season.
For me he fits playing up front where he can find himself in more on situations more central to the goal that’s where his threat is. Either playing // or /[emoji6]/ to fit him in.
I remember seeing John Stones break in to the first team and it being immediately obvious he was destined for a higher level. Jalo hasn’t been quite the same, but perhaps it’s harder to standout in his position and with our team more broadly struggling.
He's been living in Leeds with family a long while now. Talks reet proper Yorkshire when he's appeared in Fanzone
He could have all the talent in the world but physically he looks miles off it. He doesn’t look like he can run & his kit never seems to fit him. It’s hard to see him ever being a 90 minute man right now.
Looks pretty fast to me. Wasn't you one of the posters who was wanting Marsh to get more game time? I think the next few seasons for jalo are crucial but some have wrote him off after one league start crazy.
I don’t mean his speed. I mean his fitness. There doesn’t look like there’s anything there. He looks like he’s only got 20 minutes him. I think the lads got ability but I can’t see him doing 90 minutes well. No, I’ve never wanted Marsh to be starting games for us. I’ve just argued he shouldn’t get stick as we literally had no one else fit when he got a few starts early on before we signed Humphrys & DKD.
My bad thought you had. The only time Marsh has started this season was 2 league cup games he did get quite a few minutes from the bench 1st half of the season.
At one point I think there was only him & one of Cosgrove / Watters who were fit. I just thought the stick he was getting was harsh as it wasn’t his fault that no one had being signed when we had half a season to replace Cole & McAtee.
he is also- imho -not fully fit -he should be able to outpace most fullbacks- he could when he was 16/17/ and then had bad injury early on-Lacking self-confidence and belief-he needs more encouragement and trust on and off the field like a few more.
