Nice bit of relief from the pain of following the Reds this season. Newly promoted Yorkshire away to Hampshire. I think they’ll do well again this season with YJB captain and Dawid Malan available for both Red and white ball games.

Hope matches are on YouTube again.

I enjoy watching local games.. chilling out in the sun with a cheeky tipple, the sound of the corky getting a thwack, and the gentle applause

Malan deciding to go back to playing red ball is great news. The squad has more than enough quality to be nearer the top than bottom. Root and Brook will be available for a few games I imagine, ahead of a very busy test year.

First game at Headingley starts on April 11th. I’ll probably go up for the first day (with a stroll up to Vinyl Whistle at lunch).

Making Bairstow captain could an inspired move with a young squad.

Yes so will I but we’ve still got six matches to enjoy first! I stopped going to Oakwell months ago but have seen almost every game on my Tv or computer screen. Some have been enjoyable but the majority a long way off that.

I hope to spend a bit of time at the cricket and I definitely want to get over to Scarborough some time - quick drive up the A64 for me so no excuses this season for not going!

All Yorkshires home games that are not being shown on sky, are free to view again on their YouTube channel.

Hampshire are streaming the game but I can't see if it's free or not.

Membership pack arrived today, can't wait to get to Headingley a week tomorrow hope the weather stays nice as it was baltic at the first few games last year!

Root and Brook missing for ECB appraisals. Couldn’t they schedule them for another day? Say, today?

Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing if Wharton and others continue their progression in a higher league.

I was going to ask why Root and Brook are not in the annual squad photo.

I remember last year most games were free on YouTube but it’s hard to see why counties would continue with that indefinitely. Football clubs certainly wouldn’t allow that.

It is odd that the season is going to start in decent weather conditions. Not normal at all is it!

With 4 wickets down early, Malan could have done without being run out.

Not a good opening session for Yorkshire. Malan playing brilliantly then runs himself out, but he’s not the only one to toss away his wicket.

96 for 5 is poor and is evidence that batsmen can’t get out of one-day mode sometimes. Classy shots played but no inclination to build an innings from any of them, yet.

What a ridiculously poor way to end an innings. Try a reverse sweep - survive by the skin of your teeth, so repeat it for the next two balls until he raises his finger
