Reds defender Maël de Gevigney previewed Saturday's Sky Bet League One clash with Huddersfield Town at Oakwell with the media. Reflections on Stockport Clash Bad result for us. Even the content of the game wasn’t good enough compared to our standards, especially the first half, where we lost too many duels, too many first balls, and too many second balls. That didn’t help us during the game, giving two goals away. And then we had to start the second half with two goals against us. We started to play and were better, but it wasn’t good enough to win the game. You have to take a bit of both the negative and the positive because if you take only the positive, it’s not going to help you. You have to take the negative too, to avoid this kind of performance, this kind of first half, and to start with good intentions in the next game. On Frustration of Reds Supporters Yeah, obviously, I can understand. It’s probably the hardest run since the beginning of the season—five games without a win. But I think Saturday is a big, big game for us. We need to create a positive atmosphere at home with a full house, hopefully, and it could be a good turning point for the season. A big derby, a big win at home. That’s what we want, and that’s what we’re going to try to achieve. On Togetherness of the Squad Usually, if you start fighting each other, it’s not going to help us! We have to stay strong together, like we’ve been since the beginning of the season, and since I’ve been here. It’s going to be alright, and we’re going to fight for promotion. On Signing of Clément Rodrigues Yeah, it’s nice for me, you know, to speak French in the changing room. It’s easier for me, but I’m alright. I’m happy for him. He’s happy, he’s settling in. So yeah, I’m happy for him. I’d never played against him, never met him, so I didn’t really know him. Now I do. I’ve signed a new contract as a translator for the club—I’m the official translator! No, no, I’m just trying to help him, because I know how tough it is to change countries, especially when you don’t really speak the language. So yeah, I’m trying to help him, and the club is helping him too, so it’s going to be alright. His English isn’t the best at the moment, but he’s doing his best to learn, and I’m helping him by speaking French too. There are three of us who speak French in the changing room, so it’s easier for him. Like I said before, we’re together—it’s the same between the players. We’re trying to make ourselves better and help each other, so no, there’s no problem with that. Fixtures Barnsley Vs. Huddersfield Town - Sat, Feb 15 2025, 15:00 On Current Mood of the French Defender To be fair, I enjoy it when the team is winning. When we don’t win, I’m not really enjoying it, even if I’m playing well or consistently. That’s not what matters to me. I’m here to achieve my goals, and my main goal is to be promoted with Barnsley this year. So I’m just looking forward to the next game, to get back to winning, and that’s all that matters to me. On Atmosphere at Oakwell this Saturday They’ve got a big role to play. I hope they’re going to be behind us because we need them. We need this atmosphere to show the opposition that it’s not going to be easy for them. We’re going to give everything, and I hope they’re going to give everything for us. Continue reading...
And also to be fair ,it first of all it needs the team to get the crowd on their feet. If you want that ,get on the front foot from the first minute. Don't wait until the 2nd half like Stockport away.
Bingo. It's on the club to get paying customers in a positive mood, not on the paying customer to offer the players additional motivation on top of their obscene wages
He’s our best defender in my eyes. I’ve seen plenty better over the years, but of the current lot, I like him the most.
In my opinion it is. He's never consistently played well for us. He's had the occasional good game or good 80 minutes but consistently played well? Never happened in my opinion
Surely if you’re a supporter, and the players ask for your support, the least you can do is give it to them? The club can do more, definitely, and I hope there is a new signing announcement just prior to the game on Saturday and that gives the fans a lift as well, but If you can’t give some encouragement whilst in the stadium, what’s the point in going to the game? You might as well just wait until the result comes in and base your level of support on that.
Artificially pretending to be in a good mood when they've made the experience awful isn't easy or a realistic expectation. MDG should be asking his bosses to provide an atmosphere not the customer
I think if a fans favourite like Roberts gives this interview he doesn't get the questioning of performances etc. He's had his moments this season but I'd agree he's been our best center back.
I don’t rate him at all, but compared to the others he’s not done too bad this season. Just goes to show how bad our defence is.
So the players want the fans to make an atmosphere that makes the opposition believe it's not going to be easy, problem with that is in too many games at home this season teams have realised after the first 10 to 15 minutes that it's far too easy for them to stop us scoring so they can attack us and just wait for the inevitable **** up to give them at least 1 goal. The players need to stop making it easy for the opposition not the bloody fans.
