Correct and as I said could have been more to it but the guy is apparently from Burnley so you would have thought a move further north might have been more appealing unless he’s got family already settled down south etc
He is from Watford and spent his entire career down south apart from a few years in Burnley when they were in the prem
Not sure why, but I'd assumed that our approach for Norris was for a loan move (possibly because we subsequently agreed a loan for Gauci after this fell through). Looking back at Giddings' post regarding it, there's no suggestion that it was a loan, so presumably we'd tried to sign him permanently too. There could be several reasons why he chose Wycombe over us - wages, location, relative prospects of Championship football next season - but that's a real eye-opener with regard to our ability to attract players relative to League One rivals who we'd previously had thought we'd be able to hold the advantage.
Could be any number of reasons, though I'm not sure that us being northern would be that much of an attraction, given he's down south already. I'd say he's earnt the shot of playing in the Championship and didn't see that as a short term realistic option, whereas Wycombe certainly have more of a chance.
Probably combination of all 3, location, wages and possibility of playing higher. Wycombe not starting on a position of -6m means they can push the boat out further their rejection of a 7m fourth bid for Kone shows you hiw far financially they are in front of us.
Wycombe have a billionaire owner...so it's obvious how they can afford players...and also refuse bids.. Surely this conversation is pointless
No idea. I was under impression that they were. I have no idea, seems all smoke and mirrors with this lot at the top.
Parekhs dad is often assumed as a billionaire, but he was confused with someone with the same name, but if I recall, had two daughters and not a son. JAQs husband is wealthy, but isn't billionaire range. And we know Lee and Conway are nowhere near that level of wealth. Clearly, they have significant wealth, but certainly aren't billionaires.
Lee and Conway barely have a stake in the club anymore, so their wealth is irrelevant. They've about as much of a stake as Martin Nettleton.
Wycombe is a better proposition than us currently. Better team, higher in the league, owners who actually are billionaires. No alarm bells ringing for me. I’d expect Wycombe to offer more than us and I wouldn’t have wanted to spaff a huge weekly wage on a keeper
