I thought Watters had a decent loan spell here at first. Admittedly it was no better than decent, but it certainly wasn't terrible. More fans have been talking about his pace and his work rate this season, and saying if only he could finish off a few more chances. Yeah lol, if only!.
Completely agree mate and I'm glad you aren't one of those who said he was okay at the time and now pretend he was horrendous whilst here like others do. It's ironic too though, because when he did come on loan, he was pretty useless everywhere other than just outright finishing. We all complained about his overall gameplay etc but the one redeeming factor was at least he was clinical, and he certainly was. Now though, it's like it's flipped, he does okay elsewhere but his finishing is shocking, and unfortunately I think he's a much bigger confidence player than a lot of other strikers
I got a few negatives on here as well, when I said I thought signing him after that decent loan spell, was a good idea. A better idea at least, than re-signing Tedic instead, which I think we were also interested in doing. But sadly Watters didn't kick on from there like he really should have.
I think Woodrow would be a gamble as a permanent signing but not so much as a loanee. If we get a Woodrow who is fully fit, even at 30, and with the right motivation and frame of mind it could be a good deal. If the injuries have taken their toll and its not something he truely wants then it might be a waste of a place in the squad. But like i said, a loan may work and given the state of our striker performance we could still bring in another ‘young and hungry’ talent too, although we havent been good at that either lately. the biggest issue i see is we have left it very late to manoeuvre another 1-2 out to make 1-2 in.
I think Watters can finish it's just glaringly obvious his confidence is shot.. will he get it back here or elsewhere tho..?
We need quality reinforcements. Players who’ve tasted the league and are battle hardened and ready to go. A leader at the back, proper head it,kick it, shout at everyone merchant. A midfielder who just sits, kicks anything that moves and shifts the ball on, some pace out wide, a cardboard cutout to replace Gent and two strikers, one of which needs to be able to head the ball and hold it up. What we might end up with, if anything at all happens, is young loans of players that need a run out from U21 teams. Think Ike Ugbo. We’ll not improve, we’ll still have a soft underbelly and we’ll still not be able to score. Yet the board will tell us how lucky we are to have them. Clarke will look and sound exasperated and instead of coaching them he’ll bang on about being a special man manager whilst making players feel useless in the press. Probably missed plenty but it’s not 8am yet and I’ve not had a coffee. Have a nice day all.
Probably more to it but considering we couldn’t agree a deal with someone who then chose to move to Wycombe once again gets alarm bells ringing if it’s come down purely to wages. https://x.com/sportspeteo/status/1886327540463108368?s=46&t=trUrLWLsldTn2T7z_vrQBw
That day has arrived once again, the awe and wonder of the final day of the winter transfer window............will we get what we need? will we get a signing that wont leave us all scratching our heads? who knows or...... Will it be a day where the shouts get louder for the board to sell up or the head coach to go ? its a day in the life of our beloved club and its time to stand up and be recognized!!!!!!!!!
If we wanted him I'm guessing we'd have got him. Maybe we went for the cheaper route which was a loan.
possibly but we still need to find another keeper again this close season (again) this did make me laugh. https://x.com/ethangtbfc/status/1886305489304084881?s=46&t=trUrLWLsldTn2T7z_vrQBw
