When was the last time we signed a proven goalscorer in their prime? That idea was never going to happen I’m afraid.
I think we'll end with maybe a overseas striker, possibly a Premiership loaneee and maybe another defender to help shore things up.
Few players out maybe a loan. Will bring a striker in on loan someone we have hardly heard of with 5 goals in 50. U know the score. Mediocre finish, end up 12th at end of season. Board say window was gd and spreadsheet working well. But average gate dips below 10k as noone can be ******* bothered to go.
Chairman was at the game yesterday, fingers crossed it hit home how bad we are at the moment and signings are going to be made.
There isn't really anyone that we could realistically sign that people would be happy with. Here's a list of every player who scored 13 or more goas in Leagues One and Two last season. Most of them are having fairly poor seasons, not proper centre forwards, or are unrealistic - DKD is probably doing better than most of them. If Macaulay Langstaff is available as has been rumoured then he'd be a good shout, but otherwise I don't think we're going to get someone with any kind of proven track record. We're looking at players who have done alright for a short period at a similar or lower level, like Cosgrove and Watters. I'd say Cole fell into that category as well, so does Niall Ennis who people kept linking us with. If you look at players who have done okay this year - Luton have just signed Millenic Alli from Exeter for around £1.5m and Thelo Aasgard from Wigan for a reported £3m. Sam Smith to Wrexham for £2m. There just isn't any value there. Then there are young loans from Premier League teams, or possibly someone from abroad, like that Swedish striker we tried to sign in the summer, but again, I doubt people would be too impressed.
According to Facebook - allegedly interested in Woodrow. Again not sure what I think on that one either. He downed tools on us last time and been woeful after he left at Luton:
