Nowt up wi Slade back in the day. Saying that, there was a Slade v T Rex thing going on in my playground akin to Oasis v Blur 20 odd years later and I was firmly in the T Rex camp.
There’s loads of uncool people I’d hold my hands up to. Girls Aloud Charli xcx All Saints Olivia Rodrigo Janelle Monae. Taylor Swift. probably wouldn’t share my love of the Spice Gitls with many people though.
I might have had one or two in my younger days. That I'd keep under my hat. Carpenters for one. But I have a liking for many genres. Boy band to Metal. And have no problem pointing out who I like. Each to their own. As I've allus said. Cos you may not like some artistes style of music it doesn't mean they are crap as they may have millions of followers who would disagree. Barring Brian Ferry and The Pogues mind
I often revisit early Embrace albums, which is pretty uncool. Also quite like a couple of Taylor swift albums, particularly the stuff she wrote with Aaron Dressner from the National. And I think Carly Rae Jepson has written some absolute bangers.
My quote re the Pogues and Brian Ferry were a little tongue in cheek. The Pogues I've seen as support but not my cup of tea. Brian Ferry's voice grates on me.
Ted Nugent is a little "problematic". Apart from the Trump supporting and climate change denying, he is a racist who wet/**** himself to get out of the draft, and adopted his 17 year old girlfriend because she wasn't old enough to marry him. He's basically a more racist Steven Tyler.
As a child of the 70s, Abba, Boney M and the rest of the disco groups played heavily on my young psyche. I probably wouldn't listen to an album now, but I have listened to the likes of Diana Ross and Elton John this year. I've seen Johnny Cash - who was fantastic - but I've also seen at least one person who has since been cancelled. Not mentioning his name, but Australian and played a didgeridoo.
