A manager who’s not used to pushing for promotion at this level… it’s not rocket science, is it. Poor choice from the off, far better options out there - likes to talk the talk but he’s certainly not walking…
I said when he was appointed it was an uninspiring bang average appointment - mid league one vibes. I’ve not seen anything yet to prove me wrong, but I honestly do hope he can get us playing better because we’ve yet to play anyone good.
Looked great on his debut but got progressively worse since. Games just seem to pass him by and inevitably gets subbed after an hour. Not sure where we play him in our system to make him effective. Looks like another we’ve signed based on the stats without knowing where he fits in.
That's because we spaffed (sorry for the bojoism) £750 grand on a promising L2 / upcoming L1 player and gave him to a Conference level coach to turn him into a non league nobody.
Can't just keep sacking managers though - our turnover rate is ridiculous. We must have had 10 gaffers in the last 8 years or whatever it is - just means that there's no stability and it costs a bomb to keep getting rid, paying off, then hiring again. It's pretty clear we shouldn't have sacked Collins last year, so let's give Clarke more time. Otherwise it's the reset button again, it's more cost and its another Coach who needs time to settle and bring more players in. Whoever is making the decisions in the board room probably wants a good bollocking.
I'll dread that, people love slagging him off as a coach already despite knowing absolutely **** all about his impact or role. Not even sure he has his appropriate badges yet either for a league one team? Doubt the club would pay a weekly fine until they're finished mate.
I’m not calling for his head, as quite frankly at the minute I couldn’t care less, such is my interest in the club at the minute. What I will say is sacking him won’t change anything in the long run, & it would look even more farcical to all the football community, so who on earth would want the gig? Let’s be honest, Conor will be our next head coach, but again, he’d be incredibly limited, & he’s barely gained any experience in the coaching world, it’s the wrong time. So we just need to accept we are where we are for the time being, mid table mediocrity, thankfully there’s more than 4 terrible teams in this division so Relegation shouldn’t be a threat. Let’s just get through this season & then assess in the summer.
