The older I get the more i despise our national anthem

‘Britons awake’ and ‘The empire too we can depend on you’ living in the past again I’m afraid. With all the talented songwriters, musicians and poets etc in this country I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to commission someone/s to create an anthem with lyrics that aren’t offensive and a nice upbeat catchy tune

 

Fk sake ST. Are you serious? Your govt wants to try and hold the UK together.
Doubt that would go down well in Scotland Wales or N Ireland.
Be great if it did happen then we would all be off.
Just shows how blinkered you are or just totally ignorant of the make up of to the broken UK

I took the empire to refer to the commonwealth but it could quite easily be changed to "the commonwealth too" or even "our allies too, we can depend on you" which is a good message

 

Considering we are talking about what the ENGLISH football team sings at ENGLISH football matches then no I dont particularly mind if it ignores our rivals. On Friday night when you lot lined up to get your arses handed to you I didn't notice you lot singing 3 lions

 

And quite fkn right. Horrible song

 

But you want the England national anthem to be about Scotland right?

I've asked you already why are you offended by the idea of the English national anthem not being about Scotland but you don't want the Scottish one to be about England?

I’m not offended by English anthem not being about Scotland. Of course it shouldn’t.
But England doesn’t have an anthem you use the uk one.

 

There's no law saying that has to remain is there? Why do you think you should have your own but it's offensive to you for us to have our own?

The England national football team should sing an English song about England for me or you and Wales should sing god save the king

Every uk country should each have an anthem and there should be on for the uk. But not gstk because it mentions slaying the Scots.

I just commented on the words you used. It’s about England, not other countries in the UK, Great Britain. We just need a new English Anthem to be sang at events where England is being represented. BTW I always refer to myself as British, so I’m not being a little Englander here. Just to repeat my point though, there really is no reason why a new Modern anthem can’t be commissioned with all the talent we have in this country.

 

Get Andrew Lloyd Weber to compose 4 anthems, one for each country, then they'd all sound exactly the same ..... all the same notes .... but not necessarily in the same order.
