Sunac Dishonours the Veterans in D Day Commemorations

The interview isn't due to be aired for 6 days apparently.

Lied, doubled down on the lie, got rebuked by the treasury, criticised by the statistics authority (again) we found out he took another £150k from a man he'd said had been racist two days earlier, and now we've seen he's left such an important event early to do this recorded interview, the only time itv were given. He's now apologised... But in a way that draws more attention to it without actually giving any inkling as to why on earth he did it. And thats just Thursday.

He obviously knows he's not going to win, but I'm starting to get the feeling he just wants it all over... A little man in every sense of the word.

I can't stick the Tories, but these types of shots and this being the headline news when there's so much more important stuff going on is mental.

He's the PM in an election campaign. He's stacked. He's done his bit, paid his respects and then left but had his most senior cabinet colleague quite rightly stay. It's a nonsense story.

 

Wonder how it will play out in Catterick Garrison which is part of his Richmond constituency?

 

I agree partly. But Starmer stayed. Sunak came home and did a pre recorded interview that won't be aired for 6 whole days.

Its just this sort of stuff that cuts through and gives credence to claims he's out of touch and doesn't understand people. Especially against the backdrop of a resurgent Reform and a strategy seemingly aimed at keeping older voters on side.

So the Presidents of France, Germany and America are pictured side by side with...... Sunak's predecessor! Terrible optics, demonstrating his poor political judgement. That's aside from the more traditional Tory MP's, Tory members and former service men and women he has offended.

Whether it matters can be gauged by the humble apology rushed out this morning when the press began to look very bad for him.

 

The latest update is that the French were originally told he wouldn't be attending at all, and the early departure was the compromise reached.

Imagine that. The King, all the major western world leaders, etc in attendance and our PM not bothering to attend at all because he wants to concentrate on lying to the public.

Campaign-wise, it's a huge development, as it throws into sharp contrast the political nous of the PM and his advisors compared to that of his main rival, who chose his priorities correctly, in terms of how the public will respond to this. The most offended group of people will likely be the older generations that he's desperately been trying to throw policies at that they think would appeal to them.

It's inept beyond belief. Far from paying his respects, he's acted in a way that suggests he had to have his arm twisted to get him to bother turning up at all.

 

Politically, its proper amateur hour - the Theresa May level of bad campaigning. Photos with veterans and soldiers win votes in some quarters. He's lost those - probably to Reform.

 

Is it too fanciful to expect Cameron's name to be on the list of candidates at the end of today? (Renunciation required, obviously)

 

I've had a bit of a theory for a while about Sunak and his abdication of the world stage. He spends very little time on International events and when he does, its very token and short lived. Look at his time at COP where he spent more time on his plane than at the event itself. And events he is at feel very controlled and short lived.

My theory is he has a massive inferiority complex. He looks almost childlike against some world leaders because of his stature. He lacks charm of a macron. If he does a 'family photo' he looks completely out of place. He's not an attractive man He has wealth, and thats pretty much it. He's way more comfortable talking to a camera on his own where comparison with others isn't possible.

The more you think about it, the more bizarre it is that he'd covet a job with so much public glare that he's so unsuited to.

 

Apparently he wasn't intending to go at all but had to be talked into it.

I can only assume there is some kind of bizarre "Brewster's Millions" scenario happening in the background, where he somehow becomes Emperor of the Universe if the Tories don't win any seats at all.

You could be right. Add in that - unlike the other leaders that attended - only himself and Cameron were not elected in their positions. Macron, Trudeau and Biden, etc. all were.

 

One thing that was very apparent in Tuesday's debate is that Sunak and Starmer are pretty much the same height, so he'll also look short compared to people he's photographed around. Oddly, it's somehow less noticeable with Starmer, in terms of it being a distraction.

 

Its not so much a height thing, its his overall stature. The more I see him, the more he looks like Kermit from the muppets. The irony.

 

It doesn't help that Sunak wears trousers that are short in leg length.

 

I think he's deliberately trying to lose the election.

 

I think he's sexier than Starmer. Although having said that I think the Lib Dem leader looks the cuddliest.
