Maximise our potential revenue for decades to come and bring the stadium into the 21st century Or... Ps, the first image fits within the stadium boundary
Can we have the lettering on the seats the right way round? You going to build directly onto Grove Street?
Haha yes I know the lettering is the wrong way round. And no, the east stand fits within the clubs boundary on the west side. There's a lot of wasted space behind the stand even at it's narrowest point
As nice as it would be it is pointless we would rarely if ever fill it so it would look emptier than it already does
https://issuu.com/mattgrimshaw/docs/west_stand_proposal I still think this proposal is this best iv seen that was posted on here a few years ago, I don’t think we need extra capacity, it’s something different and would give us as a club more ability to open up to different avenues and drive in more pre and post match day spending! Would also look miles better imo whilst respecting the current historic stand.
The back of this is great. I'm not keen on the inside - any stands with large exposed windows/ commercial areas look bad in my opinion. Definitely a great example to bear in mind if we ever developed the West Stand - it doesn't have to look boring!
For me they should concentrate on making the current seats we have be available to sell and get the ground back to it's true capacity would be far cheaper than building a new stand.
I wouldn't want us building a carbon copy of our outdated east stand. We need something like the Blunts have. A decent size stand with corporate boxes with outside seating. I've been there an handful of times and it's really smart.
That's exactly the stand I suggested many moons back. Would fit well at our place. Minus the blades splashed all over the seats
Yes, but the facilities aren't anywhere near fit for purpose. Toilets, catering, access are non-starters if there's anything like a decent crowd in. Bolton in the playoffs last season a case in point. Genuine crush hazard in the area at the south end of the stand.
Went to the rugby at Wigan Saturday. First time I've ever really thought a shift away from Oakwell might be what's needed. Easy access & parking. Huge fan park/bar - multi purpose space used with academy. Plenty of space & multi use space (exec bars) Accessibility good. Facilities around it used all year round. I'm not sure Oakwell ever gives you those things and I think they're gonna become more and more important.
I'm not sure what the reduced capacity is, but we're currently averaging 12,333...the last Championship season was 12,692.
We don’t need a stadium with 25k plus capacity. What’s the point? Unless we aim to fill it with 10k away fans.
Something similar to the John Street Stand would definitely be my choice. Port Vale have something similar on a slightly smaller scale which would also look good.
