Which if I lent someone something and it went missing I would expect them not the club to replace. Just seems an odd scenario and could do with the details being clarified. I guess the club will have to now put something out to respond to these comments.
What a mess. I’m sure Jean feels terrible tonight and won’t make the same mistake again. I think it’s fairly clear who the source for the article is and it’s not Ellie. The interesting question is why did they do it.
There is a large element of 'stirring the pot', from whoever provided the information for the article. What saddens me most is that the usual suspects on this board, Scott!, Super Tyke, amongst others are delighting in the negative connotations arising from the article.
Perhaps they were aware that a lot of fans were blaming them for this shitshow and they felt it was unfair?
I don’t know. She said she didn’t know what she apologised for (I’m not sure if she actually means ‘what’ which doesn’t make that much sense or if she means ‘why’). The apology could have been to keep the peace for all we know. Who sold this information to the journalist and what do they know about the meeting and the apology? Why would Jean completely make up that she wore different clothing to what people will have seen her wearing and say she acted in ways she didn’t? (I’m not saying she didn’t but what would the motivation be? Especially as by all accounts Ellie was a good worker and well qualified.)
I’ve absolutely hammered the club for some stuff particularly the FA Cup shambles but I’m not that concerned over this. What Jean’s said is clearly wrong but been realistic it’s nothing worse than what gets said in offices all over the place. I’ve been in our office today & the staff are always bitching about each other behind each others backs. Over time I’ve heard comments about women’s appearance, men’s tattoos, men been roid heads, staff potentially sleeping together & so on. It’s just life. It doesn’t make it right but I reckon what she’s said is tame as to what get said in many places of work. However, if you're daft enough to slip up & you’re in a position of power like Jean is then she’s been stupid & the club will have to pay a price in compensating Mrs Dobson.
It sounded like something he specifically lent the club. He said he agreed to lend them ‘said item until they got a new one’.
Potentially, but they’ve moved on. Why now? It may be that it’s simply taken a long time to get the article out and what we’re reading is the result of a tip that came in many weeks ago. However, I thought the unattributed quote in this sentence was peculiar: “At this point, El-Ahmad was meant to be finishing the season as CEO before leaving on “amicable terms” to take a similar role at MLS side Minnesota United.”
If it's not true Mrs Cryne could always sue the publisher of the story. The reason people are commenting on it is it's just another example of the amateurish way Barnsley FC is run and things haven't improved after the board room musical chairs.
Club co-owner is allegedly accused of a sexual discrimination (that's what it boils down to), club is allegedly accused of breaching confidentiality, co-owner is further allegedly accused of continuing the discrimination after a mediation meeting had taken place. And your response to that is that you're saddened that people are appalled by that? Really? Personally I hope it's all been blown out of proportion and that Ellie made an informal complaint to her boss who had a quick informal meeting with both of them who agreed it was a misunderstanding but the club have GOT to act quickly to yet again put out a fire. Am I delighted? No I'm dismayed actually that bfc seem to spend 99% of it's time reacting to bad press
What could Norwood have that a professional* football club couldn't easily procure. *Notwithstanding that it's BFC we're talking about!
All I can think of is some sort of sound system, maybe? Not that they couldn’t get one but just didn’t prioritise it if he was happy to lend his? No idea what a singular item could be that he’d let them keep using.
