Megalolz. I wonder what a penalty worse than one of his interviews would look like. I don't think even Chris Waddle's in 1990 was anywhere close. Maybe Spain in the Women's World Cup final, or the bloke who scuffed it two centimetres forwards and kicked it twice in the same movement?
Yeah its weird isn't it, especially after that awful first half tonight (and its happened a lot this season), it shows we do still have a really good chance of promotion. And we do still have a team worth supporting, a team who are grinding out the results at the moment. I don't know if its down to us being lucky in a lot of games maybe, but then again you have to try and make your own luck. This match alone could prove to be a big turning point in the whole season!.
Carlisle never really had to create anything we gave them 5 sitters from Sunday league standard defending but thankfully they only put 1 away.
People keep saying this, but it's not necessarily the case. If they'd scored one of their previous chances then the whole game would have panned out differently. They wouldn't have then got all the same chances we gave them.
We certainly have a rather agreeable knack at the moment of playing sheeite and still winning. But is it just me, or was that penalty the softest of soft penalties. I have watched it 10 times and can't see what it was for. I'd have been outraged if that had been given against us. Think we might have to pack the 'we never get those kind of penalties in our favour' line back in the box for a while as we seem to have had a few of them now this season.
If he thinks that decision is "disgusting" then he wants to see a few of ours over the past couple of seasons! I'd maybe have been a bit cross if it had been given against us? But for me it definitely sits somewhere between marginal and definite. I'll have another look at the highlights.
I thought it was a penalty all day long. He’s got something on the ball but gone through Phillips to do so. Wouldn’t have been one 20 years ago, but it’s not 20 years ago! As for Simpson he’s been done by his attackers butchering 3 absolute sitters in that ridiculous first 12 minutes or so. Think he needs to look internally rather than finding excuses as despite the fact that none of the teams defeats this season have been him or his players fault, the clock is ticking.
Am not there, wi got shut of Norwood a thought flick it, ant been since, it's never gonna get sold as a business, there pissin up our backs, they will all be on 100,00 a year, Styles might be meaning too play crap so he gets sold cheap cos were not gonna be paying 1 off the highest paid players for playing like he is.agent might av told him..sell him to a shiitake side. Before Hamilton got signed wasnt little lee playing wrong formation and all our fans new what formation he was saying Conner couldn't play a certain way, o realized a lot of our fans new how to run a team.
Just a few points: Firstly, games last 90 minutes - and these days we actually show some spine and do manage to win games from losing positions. The subs made a difference - well done to that clueless clown Collins for making them and changing the game. Last night was basically a carbon copy of Derby v Burton. Freezing cold, away team up for it, home team getting over the line. Wonder if the Derby fans were wanting their manager sacked during the game? Kane is brilliant at penalties as said above. Goes to show that player interviews are completely worthless - let's not start bairning again the next time one of our lads is a boring get. 3 points off automatic and 4 points off the top with a game in hand on Pompey - and I'd like to be in our position rather than theirs with momentum clearly on our side. Unbeaten in a stack of games now - second top scorers in the division. But aye, let's sack him.
Sounds like he took Connell off because he thought he wasn’t playing well. Very surprised at that - he was streets ahead of Styles
I doubt Connell had 90 minutes in him if he was touch & go before the game. If he knew he was going to have to replace him anyway after an hour or so it made sense to take him off then when changes were needed.
Like everyone else I thought the first half was a shambles. De Gevigney had his worst game since his debut. Silly decisions all game. I know it’s tough for the lad as he’s still a relatively new signing but he needs to show a bit more composure when alongside a novice like Shepherd. I didn’t really get the praise for Shepherd on Saturday. Twice he came for headers in the first half & completely missed the ball leading to Bristol attacks. I imagine because they didn’t punish us it was easily forgotten but he struggled a lot more yesterday. I still don’t think the lads doing bad for the level he’s come from but he could do with a loan spell. Unfortunately for him he’s the only left footed back up to McCart so he’s going nowhere. Just daft from Roberts to play that pass for the goal. The striker was on his toes waiting for it to be played. It was like a comedy sketch. On the plus side he saved that one on one brilliantly early doors. Styles was worse at wing back than he is in the middle which is saying something. I can only assume we’re trying to put him in the shop window. Sooner or later we need to accept we aren’t getting a decent fee for him. O’Keeffe drives me mad. Either pass the ball backwards or try to beat the man marking you. Do not dribble backwards towards Williams & De Gevigney & then pass them the ball to them when they’re marked & have no space to do anything with it. Shout out to Williams who was by far the best of the back 5. It didn’t come off often but at least he was making the right decisions in the first half & trying to pick the right passes. There were two balls he played through that were so close to playing us in for a one on one so I was glad he got his assist in the second half. Hopefully we can just park it & move on. Fingers crossed that McCart’s fit for Saturday & that Pines visa comes through shortly.
Looked absolute stone wall to me. I thought Connell was poor in the first half, which was a big reason why we couldn't get any sort of control of the game even when the defenders weren't being calamitous. Styles was ok there but it was the right move to get McAtee and Phillips in midfield given how defensive Carlisle were.
As poor a start to a game from us as I've seen. being only 1-0 down at half time really flattered us. The second half was better, but it's difficult to believe it could get worse. However, we ground out another victory and again, winning from going behind. We've played better than that this season and not won (away at Peterborough immediately springs to mind). Relief at the three points and onto Saturday.
