is too big. Even from the back row of the East Stand lower you couldn't see the touchline. Goodness knows what those further down thought of it. A part of their viewing experience has gone, a very important involvement in the game. It may sound petty but it just doesn't work in favour of the fans. Surely this was considered when it was installed.
Fifa guidelines: https://publications.fifa.com/en/fo...lines/pitch-dimensions-and-surrounding-areas/ “Perimeter advertising around the field of play is a common method of promoting sponsors and their brands or products. Advertising boards around the pitch should not impact the sightlines of spectators sitting in any part of the seating bowl. Further details on sightlines and the design process can be found in Sub-Section 2.3.3.” I’d say we are in breach of that
Did it not affect you or can't you be bothered to put yourself in the position of fans who now have a problem?
5.3.3 ADVERTISING BOARDS The pitch area is the most visible (and valuable) asset during live broadcasts, potentially seen by millions of spectators watching matches at home. Perimeter advertising around the field of play is a common method of promoting sponsors and their brands or products. Advertising boards around the pitch should not impact the sightlines of spectators sitting in any part of the seating bowl. Further details on sightlines and the design process can be found in Sub-Section 2.3.3. As well as the impact of spectator sightlines, player safety also needs to be bourne in mind when positioning advertising boards. The recommended minimum distances in relation to the field of play are covered in Sub-Section 5.3.1. LED advertising boards on the edge of the grassed area Some tournaments have their own specific requirements for the positioning of advertising boards, including the FIFA World Cup finals. Pitch sprinklers should not be planned or positioned behind any advertising boards. As described in Sub-Section 5.3.2, the advertising boards must not prevent the movement of spectators onto the field of play in case of emergency evacuation. The height of the LED boards should be considered when selecting the system that will be used. The overall height of the boards and the distance from the first row of seats needs to be checked to ensure that sightlines to the field of play are not blocked. The standard size of the active screen is around 0.9m, although the overall height of the LED unit is likely to be higher at around 1.0m.
This is something that I think is a serious concern about the club and something that I think needs to be raised and addressed before we get into serious trouble either with the football authorities or the law. We all know that we were kicked out of the cup because we didn't pay attention and follow the rules but it's so much more than that. Last season we blatantly broke the rules with the size of the hex logo which the club had to back down on and address, then they did the same thing with the us mobile logo and I believe it was the us mobile guy himself who offered to reduce the size of the logo not the club realising it was against the rules. We sell goods at the kiosks without displaying the price to the customer which I believe is a breach of advertising law. We flout the law as we give out single use plastic cutlery at the kiosks. We break advertising law by aiming hospitality at individuals and end users but display the price excluding VAT. And now we have perimeter advertising that obscure sightlines and breach regulations. My question is how? How can a multi million pound organisation flour regulations across the board with such alarming regularity? Is it incompetence? Or is it simply not caring? It needs addressing before we are fined or worse
Isn't there something about 'restricted view' seats, which is unquestionably what many were made into yesterday, having to be advertised as such at the point of sale too?
Suspect the club will be flooded with complaints and requests to move this week. I reckon that any kids, or anyone who is quite small, who sits on the first couple of rows, now can't see much of the pitch at all.
QPR provide restricted view seats with no leg room for people over 5’ 0” for all away fans in the upper tier of the away end.
Why are the boards so far away from the stand / so close to the pitch? Why aren't they right up against the front of the stands walls where the old style advertisement boards are?
Daft thing is, they haven't even been working properly for last 3 home games. May as well take them down.
I'd say because of safety rules for fire/evacuation.. you be blocking the gaps in the wall that lead onto the pitch..
