I was wondering if they’d taken all the seats out. Got to admit though it’s a fantastic atmosphere in that ground. Can’t see past them and Leicester for the top two. Ipswich getting a lesson today.

Coincidentally I watched The Damned United on DVD last night. Great film and Clough was only saying what most right-thinking people were saying at the time. Leeds may have been champions but they hadn’t won it fairly. They could have footballed every team off the park but they chose cheating and violence far too often. It’s no wonder they were detested by most fans. Still are to some degree.

Don't forget though the film is heavily fictionised.

Yes I get that but I am old enough to remember that era and that’s where the name “Dirty Leeds” comes from. They really were thugs a lot of the time

Different era though. Chelsea were every bit as savage in those two 1970 Cup Final games. I should think Eddie Gray still has the scars.

Oh yes I agree and of course Keegan mixed it with Bremner in that charity shield match. Chopper Harris was a proper hard man at Chelsea, rivalling Hunter at Leeds, but Revie’s boys were the worst culprits

Aye. Charlton, Bremner and Hunter the obvious culprits, but Johnny Giles could dish it out a bit!

Liverpool had Tommy Smith, Chelsea had Chopper Harris and Leeds had Hunter, Charlton, Bremner and Giles who could all dish it out.

So could Allan Clarke but he was more sneaky about it.

Reaney was also a bit of a quiet assassin

They have safe standing in the North Stand if not more.
