The chances of losing Andersen Thomas and Kitching this season and it not affecting us were absolute zero unless we improved our midfield and strike force but unfortunately in those areas we have got worse with several players from last season looking way out of form.
Watch the playoff final back and note the impact Norwood had on our entire game when he came on. I can't imagine getting that from Watters.
Norwood had some right moments for us. It wasn't just the important goals, it was roughing up the opposition and being a general ar$ehole. Something we've been short on for years and years
I thought Cosgrove should have gone himself instead of playing O'Keefe in and took too long when he was clean through. Looks like Michael Smith to me.
Michael Smith ref seems accurate to me. He was poor with us but has had a decent lower league career so we live in hope.
Its not as simple as looking directly at goal contributions though. Watters doesn't get us up the field he cant hold the ball up and doesn't win anything in the air the ball just comes straight back. Norwood got us up the field and took pressure off the defence. I'd argue Norwood holding the ball up and passing to someone else who passes to someone else which then leads to goal scoring opportunities puts us in a better position than what we find our selves with in with Watters leading the line.
Bottom line is he didn’t want to stay. I suspect if we’d dug our heels in, it would have done more harm than good. I guess we could have improved his terms and matched Oldham’s offer.
I'm crap at maths. Terrible. Got a C in my exams but that really is ironic, because I couldn't even count to C. Coat.
Norwood chose to go. And if rumours are true nowt to do with money or football. (He'd just signed a new contract). He wanted to make the move happen. End of.
I think it was all about the length of the contract. We weren’t prepared to give that kind of contract to a 33 year old. If we were then I’d imagine he would still be playing for us.
I have to admit I got it wrong Watters and Cosgrove have turned out to be the best forward line in league. Next summer we will let our best 2 strikers Cosgrove and Watters leave for next to nothing and have to start recruiting again from lower leagues. Forward 3 months time to comments we will read on here.
Sorry, I may have totally misread this. Are you saying in 3 months time, people on here will be saying Cosgrove & Watters are the best strike force in the league? That sounds like what you're saying, but they would also sound like the words of someone totally trippin' balls on acid, so I wasn't sure...
