EAST STAND UPPER TIER NOW OPEN FOR FRIDAY NIGHT! Ticket News After an increase in sales, we are now opening the upper tier of the East Stand for our Emirates FA Cup tie against Horsham, set for this Friday night. Continue reading on the official site...
How interesting! I sent the club an email late last night to complain and to say the closure of East Upper was alienating fans and was terrible PR. Still not entirely satisfactory for Ponty Enders and those who prefer West Stand though.
Some common sense but it's a bit late to be doing this, i imagine a lot of folk will have made other plans by now.
Why didn’t they just open it all to start with? Put loads off with just lower tier open. People have made their mind up now. Bonkers….
If I wasn't too busy snorkelling/ bbqing in the Seychelles I'd take them up on a seat in the east stand upper.
I waited to buy mine in the Upper and it paid off … have bought my normal seat. As said earlier, you have the option to swap I think but best of luck trying that !
Got the seat immediately behind my ST seat, as that had already gone. Finally, a bit of common sense has been applied, albeit at the last minute. What a farce! Nothing to do with an increase in sales, given that they're offering swaps. Just a realisation that they'd shot themselves in the foot.
I've never known a club score so many own goals on the PR side of things. Can anyone think of an occassion where there wasn't a f-up? I'm not usually doom & gloom but there's a pattern emerging here of constantly making poor decisions both in terms of marketing, fan engagement and rapport between the owners/CEO (where is he btw?), and us fans.
Completely correct mate, I sent a tweet out yesterday also asking if anyone at the club did any planning and had they not seen the weather forecast, save money first on every occasion, anything else fans included come secondary.
Someone at the club reads this board - so if you've acted and managed to convince the powers that be, thank you. It happened with the Twitter comms the other week. It was mentioned on here that we barely post - lo and behold, updates were plentiful during the next game. So whoever you are who reads this, thanks for taking notice of the fans.
Because you’d potentially have a full stand open which was only 40% full. Chucking money away on additional stewards and catering is financially detrimental to both teams - so they were right to delay the opening until they knew it would be required. Lower first as easier access and better for players/TV with fans lower to pitch, upper tier after. Don’t see the issue to be fair.
As a fully paid up happy clapper I have to say that, once again, just opening one stand and, initially, just the bottom, most exposed to the elements section is ridiculous. It might save a few quid on staffing but has probably lost the equivalent in revenue from people deciding not to go. Back in about 1980 we drew Hartlepool in the first round and there were 12500 there. Great atmosphere and one of the big games of the season. Now they treat it like it's a side show and the fans respond accordingly. I defend Khaled at times on here from some of the ridiculous criticisms but, on the whole, I'll be glad when he's gone.
Maybe. But how much money? Do you not think that loyal supporters, over 1000 of whom made the trip down to London to watch the team recently, should be able to sit in their preferred area of the ground? I remember Patrick Cryne's response when he was asked if we would ever change the name of the ground if a sponsor came up with a big offer to do just that. He replied in the negative, adding, "Some things are more important than money".
