WATCH THE WOMEN ON THE MAIN PITCH AT OAKWELL! Fixture News They're gracing the hallowed turf once again next month! Continue reading on the official site...
Not if the ladies game was already down and booked in for Oakwell on the Sunday - which it will have been…..
If that was the case, why wait until now to announce it? It may be accidental, but the timing feels like retrospective arse-covering for the FA Cup game being on the Friday. Given all the negative press generating from Horsham's perspective, this announcement feels very poorly timed to me.
1) SYP are the reason for the game being moved aren’t they? They never listen to BFC, so nothing new anyway. 2) Why would the club all of a sudden move a ladies game to cover their backs? I genuinely think folk are reading too much into all of this.
1) We don't know for sure because the club have put up a wall of silence. 2) Why choose today to make this announcement, when it's obvious that it would get people's backs up, among BFC fans, and undoubtedly for anyone on the Horsham side of the fence? All that anyone is reading into this is that the club have consistently picked the worst available option at several decision points along the way regarding this fixture, and fans are naturally questioning why this is the case. We don't know the full circumstances of the date change of the fixture, so there may be some mitigation, but opting not to explain this counts as one of those decisions.
Agreed. Announcing it now stinks of a late decision so they can bring it up as to why we couldn't play Horsham then.
Maybe, but this morning is the first time Spennymoor have heard about it! https://x.com/MoorsLadies/status/1717534394951282737?s=20
Makes sense though - end of half term. 2 games in one weekend for the kids to see. Can see the thinking behind it.
That looks like it was published in the last 20 minutes or so, and isn't a communication from the club, so my point stands. It also opens up further obvious questions, like why the Doncaster game didn't move to the Friday instead. If the FA made the call, as is indicated, what had been the process behind this prior to the decision being taken? Taking that information in isolation, and assuming (generously) that we had a Women's fixture already committed to Oakwell on the Sunday, the logical outcome should have been the Donny game moving to the Friday and ours remaining a 3pm Saturday kick-off. I'd very much like to know why that didn't happen and who was involved in making that call.
Never miss an opportunity to let folk have a go do our club do they? SYP have suggested they asked us and donny to consider moving the game; it appears therefore that it might have been the club that volunteered to move it to Friday themselves - and then they announce a women’s fixture on the first team pitch on the Sunday, when any level of fairness would have dictated that if we had to move the Horsham game it would have been to the Sunday. Beggars belief really. Even if it’s all innocent and coincidental, this isn’t the brightest move.
Being fair for once - it looks like the Ladies fixture was always Sunday at 2. The rest of their league are kicking off at that exact time. I don't know whether it was always intended to be played on the main pitch is another thing.
I doubt the game has been moved. I very much suspect that they been offered the main pitch so we can use the game as an excuse after the backlash.
The club have said at the outset that the Ladies would use Oakwell as often as possible. No reason at all to suppose this fixture wasn't always intended to be played there.
I don’t think Oakwell can always support 2 home fixtures - Saturday and Sunday, due to pitch maintenance required between the two games. Therefore, it’s quite possible, this was changed to the main pitch due to having additional time to prep the pitch between the two games, with the first now being on a Friday evening.
