    World Number 1's that haven't achieved anything. Ireland Rugby Union. Haven't been further thus far than the Quarters of a World Cup.

    USA football team haven't been further than the quarter finals of a World Cup.

    Mark Williams was World number 1 for ages before he actually won the World Championship snooker.

    Jimmy White never won the World Championship.

    Judd Trump and Ding Junhui. Won loads of ranking titles but very few triple crown events.

    Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, Tommy Fleetwood and Colin Montgomery never won a major in Golf.

    When were the USA football team world number 1?

    Don't get me wrong, they should definitely do better than they do but they face a constant battle to even be number 1 on their continent (due to Mexico) never mind the world

    Ireland have not been World No 1 until this World Cup so I suppose its unfair to call them out whilst there still in it even though it might be for not much longer

    I'm not big on tennis. Women's sport in general to be honest. When I was a kid growing up I used to take massive interest in Yvonne Murray, Liz Mccolgan, Kelly Holmes and Sally Gunnell. Used to love athletics.

    That was same though you had athletes mopping up minor events but not winning Championships. Colin Jackson never won the Olympics but won the World's.
