So, he’s not retiring after all ! Someone on here forecast this would happen a few months ago… Good for the sport
https://www.racingpost.com/news/bri...t-plan-and-will-move-to-america-a0jA19x4JryU/ Should have stuck by his decision. Too many people in sport say they will retire, take the plaudits and then don't or they have a year off and come back.
I think he's dubbing down riding in America. Especially Santa Anita. It's not Belmont, Keeneland or Churchill Downs. I think Bob Baffert's about the best trainer there. At least at the other courses you get a smattering of top trainers. Pletcher, Brown, Ward, Motion, Weaver and Mott.
Aye he’s off to America.. I only heard the back end of the news report on Talksport. The only American trainer I’ve heard of is Wesley Ward.
That's how I started. Just watching him have the winners at Royal Ascot. Not so prolific in recent years.
I really hope this works out for Frankie. He is without doubt the greatest flat jockey in my time following racing (46 years and counting, as you ask!). The climate in California will be enjoyable for sure, but there must be many young jockeys in America all too keen to be snapping at his heels. I'd not be sure that his deserved reputation will lead to him being able to cherry-pick his rides as he does over here. I can't help thinking about the image of the boxer who takes one fight too many. I really hope it works out. He has been an irreplaceable asset to the sport.
He's dropped a huge bo llock. If you're going to carry on ride the best horses over here. It's a shame Gosden won't get a better jockey for his juveniles.
