Semi-retired. Almost as good. Pick & choose as many freelance jobs as I want to fit in around home games.
not quite, there's three full-timers, but we work in conjunction with volunteer groups from all across the north area. It's the contract that the company "Twiggs" used to have, but was taken back in house due to issues I can't discuss publicly. Can be anything from lawn maintenance to litter picking to gala events, the list is quite long really. It's a good way to try and improve relations between the Council and the people of Barnsley. We also do some work with Reds in the Community.
Worked as a contractor in finance for the last 12 years. Mainly management roles, been on contracts at LBG/Hbos (that was a three month contract that ended up lasting nearly ten years), a gadget/tech insurance company, KPMG (where we did work for the NatWest group). Currently a business complaints specialist for Barclays. Mainly fielding (justified) whinges about KYC/CDD. Not the best but it’s paying the mortgage - and contract roles are getting thinner on the ground. When this contract is up, which is soon, I might have to look for more permanent employment. A good old fashioned job. If I get anything, and whilst as well as qualifications I’ve skills and experience I make absolutely no assumptions, employers don’t always like taking contractors on or recognising the experience gained - I’m sure the immediate drop in wage will be a shock to the system …
Been a partner at two of the big four accountancy firms. Just sold the part of the business I ran to private equity, looking forward to a nice retirement shortly.
Would never have guessed based on your post history... Thanks for your professional contributions to this forum.
Head of Software Development for a Mental Health NHS Trust. Sounds important, but I've only got one other guy in my team. Spend most of my time writing integration code to allow different Healthcare systems to talk to each other.

Admin and finance at various places, British Coal, BOC Transhield, NHS Logistics followed by eight years not sitting on my arse as a postie then retiring to Ireland at 57. As has been said, retirement is the best job ever though some people can't seem to handle it. I worked with two posties who were millionaires and they worked virtually til they dropped. Me....I skipped out the door and never looked back.

I think most folks know what I do. Will be bothering everyone with the 3rd part of my punk magnum opus soon... it's a good one for anyone interested in Manchester music. Do a bit of dog walking too, but only for fun with three dogs, two poodle crosses & a border terrier...
