I've checked the law and although it's vaguely written (like most Russian laws) I'm pretty sure my chess sets don't count as antiques until they're 100 years old. Most of my stock dates from the late 1940's onwards, so I've got at least 25 years before I have to start worrying! Although when I was crossing the border the other week, I had quite a valuable set in my suitcase which could have been construed as culturally important by anyone who knew what it was. Luckily, I'm quite confident that the Russian customs goons are unable identify which chess sets were used in grandmaster tournaments in the 1960's!
