Not sure he's an adequate replacement given he's only played 19 games in league 2 and 7 games in non-league and a few other smidgens of game time here & there. We may as well give our own young centre halves a go. Definitely has potential but it's not potential we need to replace Kitching, especially after losing Thomas & Andersen.

Same could be said about Kacper being an adequate replacement for Andersen and number of games he’s played?

Said it before, we already have Kitch’s replacement. Jack Shepherd.

Is he good enough? No idea yet. Is he ready for forty odd league one games? Absolutely not. Do I think he should be Kitch’s replacement? Of course not.

But I reckon he will be. Left sided centre backs aren’t that prevalent and I can’t imagine we scouted him and signed him for any other reason.

Styles and Kitching will both join Coventry this week for a total of about £5-£5.5million from what I hear. Styles we can’t really do anything about, the release clause is set at £2million and the business done twelve months ago to get him to sign a new deal can’t be retrospectively criticised - it’s £2million we wouldn’t have had otherwise.

I really hope they keep Kitch though, or at least hold out for a bit more. But I think realistically £3.5million would do it.

What happens from there in terms of reinvestment will dictate how this season goes. Saturday, and to be fair the first half hour the week before, suggests we already have some issues that will prevent us being a true contender - losing more current first choice bodies won’t help that.

We would probably sign another centre back if Kitching goes, I’m not saying we won’t - but I still think Shepherd will be seen as the replacement, by the end of the season even if not immediately.

The team could look totally different come the 1st September.

    Roberts.

    O'Keefe. Gevigney, Lopata, Shepherd, Cadden

    Phillips, Russell, Chapman.

    Watters, Dallas.

Could lose Kane, Williams, Styles and Cole. Benson, Connell, Wolfe all out injured.

Hoping some money will be re-invested in the playing squad.

It’ll be a young lad from Man City. Nobody apart from us will let their best defender go four games into the season apart from us.

Thats my point though bud, we've already got one inexperienced CB. Shoving 2 in at the same time, I dont think its a risk worth taking when we're desperate for promotion

Had a lot of promise as a youngster at Ipswich and di play fairly regularly at Gillingham in League 2 last year. He was on loan at Cheltenham Town from January last season, but only played once and that was in the 4-0 drubbing we gave them at Cheltenham. I was not particularly impressed with him that day and he is probably no more than on a par with young players we already have. If we are going to bring in another defender (unlikely unless Kitching does go) it would be better someone around 25 years old, or with experience of League One.

We are a club that everyone sniffs around, good players always attract attention especially when we let them go cheap

Except Tottenham have just let their best striker go the day before their first match. Southampton have let several players go a couple of games into the season.
Coventry have just sold their best midfielder several games into the season.
None of whom will be spending the transfer fee received on a replacement.
Don’t get why we make out it’s only Barnsley that do this. Football teams are a business whether we like it or not.

If we're chucking names about for a player we don't yet need replacing then Liam Scales could be worth a look (hypothetically of course) o_O
